That is because the heat released out of our bodies is trapped by the thick fibers and hence causes temperature around our bodies to go up and eventually make our body temperature go up against the standard temperature.

As they are bad conductors of heat, they avoid transfer of heat from our bodies to outside, as the temperature difference being higher, the transfer of takes place rapidly. It dissuade that heat to transfer.

P.S:- Rate of Heat transfer is directly proportional to difference in temperature.

The reason is that we belong to mammals class and we are warm blooded which means that our body temperature do not change with the change in surrounding circumstances therefore we use blankets so that to escap our body blood from being freezed by the impact of cold weather on the other hand reptile class like crocodile etc they are cold blood animals theirfore they can run in cold weather as their body temperature changes with change in environment
