Default Islamiat preparation and discussion

Hi,
I am starting my preparation for islamiat and I thought to make a post to discuss issues that I might need assistance in, here.

You can come and study with me. I usually start my preparation from the start of the outline.

You are a mature person so don't post things like

-help give me this book
-sects or anything which might hurt someone's beliefs
-make fun of some islamic scholar just because you don't like him/her or he/she has conflicting views than yours.
-shia sunni debate
-making fun of some member who might have said something naive.

It goes without saying that we need to help each other out and be as nice as possible.

So that's that.

I am not an authority over isalamiat. Frankly, my knowledge is limited at best. So I hope to learn from you all.

Thank you.

Well welcome. Post away.

I am opting it in English. I have always studied Islamiat in Urdu but lately I have been doing everything in English. Going back to urdu just doesn't seem like a good option especially with a rusty urdu writing and speed. Nothing against Urdu; I studied in Urdu medium schools. It just doesn't seem that feasible to me. That's all.

Books:

-Introduction of Islam by Dr. Hamidullah (I have an e-book and it is not a full book. I tried to find a complete book but failed.)
-Islam the misunderstood religion by Muhammad Qutub
-Islam at the crossroads by Muhammad Asad
-Islam and the Economic Challenge by Umer Chapra (skimmed through it but it is a very technical book, at least for a layman like me)
-The Islamic Law & Constitution by Mawdudi
-Towards Understanding Islam
-Seerat-Un-Nabi vol.2 (English)

Physical books
-Islam and Secular Mind
-Khilafat-o-malookiyat

I have placed order for Islam: its meaning and Message by Khurshid Ahmad. I hope to receive it by post this week or next.

Ok I have read Dr. Hamidulla's book, Muhammad Qutub's book and Muhammad Asad's book. I read them last yr. Rest, I have them but haven't read them (classic Pakistani student hoarding). Islam and secular mind and khilafat book, I have skimmed through but did I understand what these two are saying or doing, no.

So that's that. I intend to consult internet/cssforum and youtube for stuff.

Hi reckless, Can you please wait till we reach that section, please.

I am a methodical person so I like things in order. Can we please for the sake of everything that is ordered in this world, start outline from the first point and move forward from there otherwise, we'll keep popping in questions from different parts and it will become a mess. It's of course me. If majority disagrees with me, I won't bring it up again.

And my email is given in my profile, if anyone of you wants these ebooks, shoot me an email and I'll send you these ebooks. Don't inundate this thread with requests.

It is late so will come back to it tomorrow. I have been reading Islamiat papers from past years so will post relevant section 1 questions from them. Thank you

Nice collection,
Any how I have been reading tafseer(marif ul quran)for four consective years, comprising of 9parts.I would love to recommend its first part to anyone who is aspiring for this exam.
Besides Ahmad Deedat and Dr. israr Ahmad are also in my good list.
(You can also include kanz ul Iman, I found it an awe aspiring)

Lastly, we are requesting each of the individual being not to jump in without having some good analytical questions.I would love to share my knowledge, provided it doesn't include namaz, roza hajj and zakat since I believe we have been pumped in these fundamental principles even from junior classes.

Zainy, waiting for your nice questions, yeah committed and reckless are also welcomed.
Even others as well.

Since i also opted islamyat in english, so medium of discussion should be the same.
From now onwards, just questions but in a systematic manner.

just one question, what do you think the paper checkers Of Islamiyat can understand English easily? No, my experience says. our papers will be checked form some molvi type teachers. majority of these teacher don't know English then how can they check our paper beautifully.
maybe, I'm wrong can differ from my opinion. the rest decision will and should be yours.

Hi all,

Committed soul asked me the following:
the book , introduction to Islam by dr. hamidullah is also in my list. what do you think should I consult with this book or drop it? it's the recommended book as well. Give your opinion about this book.

Dr. Hamiddulah's book is a good book but as it is with FPSC recommended books, you have to spend time with it to get what you want from it. I will have to re-read it to recall specific points in mind but overall, it is written for someone who wants to know about Islam. So lots of basic stuff that we grew up reading, is in there. There is some information here and there that is new and interesting but overall, it is familiar.

Here is the book.
http://muslimcanada.org/hamidullah_all.html

Go through it and see if it helps you out. You will need to spend time with it.

My perception of the recommended books by FPSC is that they feel somewhat outdated. May be because most of them were written before technological advances or whatever it is but they seem out of touch. It's hard for me to explain.I am of course not referring to the Islamic values or Prophet's life time. I am referring to when these try to explain Muslim societies in comparisons to Western societies. That's where you feel the lack of connection to the modern world. So much has happened in 90's, in 00's and is happening now. This makes 50's,60's,70's and even 80's comparisons very outdated. So if you are reading this, I would suggest, read them for Islam's basics but when it comes to modern world and Islam, use internet.
