Default solution of ISL 2010

Passed out and senior members, solve the following questions in bullet forms.

1. Describing the importance of Ethical values in Islam, write a comparative note on Islamic morality code and the Western code.

2. In the globalization arena, what role Muslim Ummah can play being custodian of revealed knowledge to resolve the complex problems of human kind?

Regards

Default my attempt in CSS @ 2010

1. Describing the importance of Ethical values in Islam, write a comparative note on Islamic morality code and the Western code.

what are ethical values?
what is the importance of ethics in a society?
Islam and Ethics? (an exponent of ethics and moralities in an age which was worse than the dark ages....etc etc)
A few ahadis on Ethics..
Islamic Morality Codes defined in a nutshell....
Western Code defined in a nutshell.
Comparative Analysis.
Why the Western Morality code is seen implemented while the Islamic Morality Code is nothing but almost extinct in practice...

Lemme write a brief description..

It is often said that "man is a social animal". He may not be an animal from the Islamic point of view, but remains social for sure. Islam, not being a religion that promotes abandoning the worldly affairs nor instructs its followers to go into seclusion, therefore it is not a surprise a whole volume of Islamic Teachings related to Ethics and Moralities. Infact Ethics form the core of the Religions. Islam, the literal meaning of which can be derived as Peace, promotes peace in the society and harkens the Humanity towards a peaceful co-existence. Since Islam is bound to be a universal religion, i.e. applicable till eternity, therefore it stressed on Ethics in an age where moralities were at the lowest ebb if not being absent altogether. Now what are ethics? in a nutsell ethics and moralities encompasses all the behaviors of individuals/society in their day to day dealing amongst eachother. be it trade or marriage, teaching or learning, service or industry, men interact with eachother. if this interaction is not bound by some set of rules/regulations, such interaction can lead to catastrophic results for many. Ethics are the agents in a society which ensure this peaceful co-existence. not only it promotes harmony but also ensure that humans are rather of benefit to eachother and not prove as a nuisance/unbearable for eachother. Thus, ethics in this context would include, how to act with others, how to greet them, how to deal with others, what our conduct should be etc. For example, stealing is both ethically and morally a crime since it causes discomfort and grief to the recipient.

As every system needs a set of rules/norms therefore our society needs rules/regulations/norms as well. Ethics play an important role in this part. their importance cannot be stressed anymore but to say that without ethics and moralities humans will be nothing more than animals who can communicate. Ethics not only defines the rules of conduct but also protect the individual against the intrigues of his co-mankind.......(i completed it)..

The importance of Ethics in Islam can be highlighted by this Hadees...(the close meaning of which is ...)

"None of you can be a true Muslim, until your fellow Muslims brother is not hurt by your action or word"...(close meaning, this is what i wrote in the paper too)...

Islam puts a great stress on the ethics of its followers. infact ethics form a big chunk of the teachings of Islam......(i went on to quote different hadees)

Western Morality ....the Western Morality code is a derivation of values that are inspired by many religions and outlooks of life....however, it revolves around the collective society. on the individual level, it has many flaws in forms of undefined/ambigious definitions of freedom of expression, freedom of thought, freedom of action on the personal level...For example, Drinking is not a crime/moral flaw in the west. to them its your personal preference....Islam on the other hand does not only encompass the collective morality but also the individual morality as well. it forbids all those things/actions which have negative effect on the whole society on the whole. however it does not mean that islam supresses invidual freedom of expression or right to decide for one self. however when it comes to personal v/s collective choice, Islam always favors the collective benefit and may curb the personal freedom for the collective benefit of the whole society.. .(a whole lot of arguments about it)...

In the end...in compare and contrast i wrote...the Western morality code may be flawed and not according to the human nature but we see it implemented not only in their socieites but also in the Muslim Societies as well. it's a shame that Islamic Morality codes are bound to books and sermons only. in action, they are seldom seen. Lieing may be an unethical and immoral act in Islamic perspective, but a mature male parent would always urge his child to lie for him on his behlaf (fone pur keh do ghar mey nai hayn)....then i wrote down the reasons...!!

This was my attempt...i dunno it may be flawed...i hope it helps you guys..!!
