salam members, i have attempted a question which was given to paper a few years before. i just took a question and started to write on it, hence dont consider it notes, i tried to attempt as i,m sitting in the paper. plz give ur useful suggestion after cheking it so that i could improve




QUESTION : ISLAM is the mid contemporary managements and political systems possesses its own political management and system
ANS: the world has discovered many new modern forms of management and political system after experiencing many ebb and flows in the political fortunes. Secularism and democracy are modern form of political system while monarchy and kingship has been altogether eradicated after the French revolution. Man has come out of antiquated and out dated system of monarchy, and he has realized the importance of democracy in this day and age. On the contrary Islam has given its unique and tremendous democratic system 1400 years ago when first four caliphs of islam were elected by dint of mutual consensus
ALLAH says in Quran: “ Muslims are those when they are bestowed with power (on earth), establish Namaz, pay zakkat, call for virtue and forbid from sin and ultimate reward for all this belong to Almighty Allah”
this ayyat of Quran proved to be true when first four righteous caliphs established the democratic regime by following the path given by Prophet (PBUH) and Allah almighty
Features of Islamic political system
1. Sovereignty belongs to ALLAH:- ALLAH says in quran “ follow what has been sent down to you and do not follow after partners beside him”. In Islamic management system the sovereignty belongs to ALLAH. No ruler wields such power to bypass these Quranic laws. However if we have a birds eye view on western countries, they prefer human wisdom rather than divine laws. However in Islamic state, a ruler cannot shy away divine laws. The Islamic republic of Pakistan is muslim country and sovereignty belongs to ALLAH as per 1973 constitution.
2.Caliph: ALLAH says” man is vicegerent of ALLAH on earth”. From this ayah of Quran it becomes explicitly clear that man is representative of ALLAH on his land. Caliph means successor of Holy Prophet Mohammad(PBUH). He is head of state therefore he bound to act properly with justice as Quran says” act not corruptly, making mischief in the world”.
3. Majlis-e-shura: if we see the developed countries, we come to know every country’s political system is based on consultation of the parliament. However Muslims had formed consultation body some 1400 years ago as Quran says” they(muslims) hold their affair by mutual consultation. As modern world has acquainted with shura more or less 2 centuries before. While Islamic caliph hazrat Umar (R.A)said, there is no concept of caliphate without consultation. Moreover, once a man asked hazrat Ali:” why your caliphate is at sixes and seven, while the time of Umar and abu Bakr was very tremendous?” Hazrat Ali replied”men like me were umar’s and abu bakrs advisors but unfortunately people like you are my advisors”. This reply of hazrat Ali tells the significance of Shura. In nut shell Islam has paid much stress on shura system
4. independence of judiciary: in Islamic state, judiciary is independent in toto, executive has nothing to do with judge quran says “ uphold justice firmly even if it goes against you, your family and your relatives “. Once hazrat Ali’s chain armer was stolen, later it was found in hands of Christian, he filed the case. Judge demanded an evidence. He could not produce it. Consequently decision was made in Christians favour. It was time when hazrat Ali himself was caliph but he did not use his power
5. Accountability: no system can run smoothly until and unless accountability has not given place in political system. However islam did not turn a deaf ear to this useful mechanism. Accountability in islam can easily guessed from the saying of hazrat umer when he said” i will be responsible if a dog dies on the bank of euphrate because of hunger.
Responsibilities of Islamic state: it responsibility of Islamic state to ensure food clothing and shelter of each citizen. Prophet (PBUH) said” the state is guardian who has no other guardian. It is duty of state to collect zakkat from rich and give it to poor. It is also duty of the state to make education accessible to all and sundry.
Conclusion: Islamic management and political system is not at all out dated. However, it possesses commendable position besides world’s new political system. Hence we can say that categorically that the political science which islam gave more or less is still unique system which is going in hand in hand with the worlds contemporary systems
