Democracy in the sense, that people should have control over their own lives and they can have freedom of opinion and expression on the matters pertaining to their well-being, is an integral part of Islamic collective system. Actually it can be better understood when we find that Islam is not only a mazhab, but also a deen. Deen in its real meaning stands for any system which deals with the collective lives of people. Islam does so. It teaches us social manners, ways of get along with others, moral values, it introduces a legal system and so forth. The equality before law is the core concept in the Islamic democratic system. Islam has its own political system which is based on the teachings provided by Quran and hadith: the man is vicegerent of Allah and the supreme authority lies in His hands. The rulers are accountable to Allah, before they are accountable to people.

The democracy which has been introduced by Islam is far more natural than any other collective system of life. Because it has been presented by Allah Himself, the Real Law-Giver and Law-Maker. Islamic collective system keeps in view the very psychology of human beings. For example, every law and the punishment of its breaching is consonant with the severity of that crime. More sever the crime is more sever will be the punishment for it. This ensures the justice in society which in turn let the people to live peacefully and happily.

The democratic system presented by west may be good to some extent, but it is no way flawless, for the man is not capable to evaluate what is beneficial for him and what is not. We find instances that they are suffering a lot due the laws they have enacted for their well being. Economic prosperity is not everything. Allah knows better what is in best interest of human beings, so the laws which He has provided us for collective life are unmatchable and inexorable. The true salvation of human beings in this world and the Hereafter lies in implementing upon those laws.

My outline for this question
1-Introduction( Islam vs democracy)
2-Features of Islamic democracy
* Concept of Voting( Bayah)
* Concept of Consultation (Shurah)
* Equality
* justice
* Accountability
3- Comparasion of Charter of Madina with US constitution
4- Causes of Decline of Democracy after prophet
5- Conclusion
In short all the basic pillars of a true democracy, i.e. consultation, justice, equality and accountability, are found in the governance of the Righteous Caliphs, Abu Bakar, Umar, Usman and Ali.Islam provides the true and basic principles of democracy which still lack in European model of state's system.
Please give your critical remarks on this outline
