separation of east pakistan and two nation theory
Dear all
Can someone please give any outline or some material regarding the following question: Q. Separation of east Pakistan, though a tragic part of history of Pakistan, was not the negation of two nation theory. Comment Thanks |

Two nation theory
Hindu and muslims are socially, culturally and religiously two separate entities. This was the simple statement of two nation theory which lead muslims to acquire a new state with certain privilages and advantages which they would have not attained if had kept with Hindus under the same government.in a more simple way a separate country for the muslim to practice the rituals of their religions and to live according to the instructions and systems given by islam. SO so keeping forth this theory Pakistan was created with its two wings east and west pakistan. unfortunately dismemberment of the east pakistan happened in 1971 and was translated by ant-pakistan lobbies as failure of two nation theory. but it was not : because 1. Separation of east paksitan was the failure of a political system which could not yield according to the desire of the people. 2. It was administrative failure as the government totally failed to bring prosperity in the life of people and bureaucracy widely remained leaned towards the development of west Pakistan. 3. The demand for separation was widely based on economic grievances of the people rather than any other issue. 4. Hindu minority which was a substantial part of intelligentsia in east paksitan slowly poisoned the mind of the people of east pakistan against people of west pakistan. So we can assume the failure of two nation could have happened if the people of east pakistan had sought assimilation with india. There were very less proportion of the population who went to raise allegation against the creation of pakistan rather they were against the tyrannies carried out by military elite and bureaucracy. A theory or concept is failed when its followers and believers revert back to what they had abandoned for it and in the case of east pakistan nothing like it happend. Neither east pakistan made any union with nor it disbanded its islamic identity which was the sole idea behind two nation theory. so we can say that two nation theory did not fail rather it was two of the different groups who adopted it separated their paths on the basis of economic and administrative reasons.
