the first direct elections for national level were held in 1970, after partition of East Pakistan the government resumed in 1972 and then again in 14 august 1973 when the constitution of Pakistan was passed. PNA which was in opposition demanded elections for which the government was dissolved on 10th January 1977 with all parties confidence. the second election took place in 1977, first after the partition of East-Pakistan, which was dissolved by the Zia-ul-haq by imposing Martial-Law with operation fair play on 5th july 1977.
