Unlike education in Pakistan, According to Jean Piaget,"The goal of education is not to increase the amount of knowledge but to create the possibilities for a child to invent and discover, to create men who are capable of doing new things."
Right from very beginning we drag our kids into cramming without knowing the true concept. Philosophy ,which sole purpose is to unearth truth, is completely ignored in our syllabus. Social studies, in Pakistan, didn't touch any social issue, or society, it's all about lies written and compiled in California university of USA in Ayub era, when we were favorite child of western bloc. In Islamic studies ,writings of intellectuals like Fazlur rehman malik has no room.
Our history is composed of series of battles in chronological order, common man is completely islolated. We disown our own civilization, and lauded those who attacked and dishonored us. We live in the era of negativity, in false superiority complex.
Beautiful minds are leaving this country, while mediocre availing every possible opportunities. History witness destruction of those nations whose foundations were on lies.

well,really thought provoking Sir,i would like to add some points here.

All our intellectuals know that our history text books are amalgam of concoctions and fabrications,but no one would dare to say anything because he will outrightly be termed as traitor.we are blinded by our patriotism.but in reality it is the fulfilment of our own ego.
K.K Aziz,renowned historian wrote ''The Murder Of History''.He signalled out all mistakes in our textbooks but no one bothered to take its notice.Our government is not concerned with what our future generations are reading.Building concrete piles in the name of schools does not make a nation ''educated''.
Our young ones are brain-washed.Schools are teaching narrow mindedness and intolerance.For instance how would it impact on mind of minor when he reads that million muslims were killed hindues and sikhs during partition?or if we teach them that only India is to be blamed for east-pakistan separation?
I hope that there will be a time when we would learn true history.Will Durant said,studying history means learning from our past mistakes.

Well, you've raised quite valid points over here, but, I can't agree with your all points. First of all, I would like you to enlighten me with the definition of a 'beautiful mind'. Secondly, all of us are crying foul but nobody is prepared to take an initiative for the rectification of this rotten and fundamentally bad system. Thirdly, each individual from the educated lot should think what s/he is contributing to the society? 'Education starts a gentleman, actions complete him' (Sarah Kirby): Our education system is based on 'rote learning', I agree, there's no space for a person doing the conceptual things but who's responsible for this? The corrupt politicians, the shameless bureacrats or the opium eater general public? I think, we all are responsible for this mess my dear. Distortion of history: It's a common perception amongst the academia that those lagging behind others always try to take refuge in history. This is just the case with us. We're after our history not present. Aristotle says: "Education is an ornament in prosperity and refuge in adversity", we are proving him wrong by our search for refuge in history. Majority of our problems would be solved if we start developing our citizenry so that the could become true patriots. Engineering of patriots by cloning process with the ideological instruments would make our people worst patriots. We have a class oriented society where there's no rule of law, equality of opportunity and of treatment. The beautiful minds are the ones that are expedient. Just my thoughts!
