Breakdown of Pak Affairs syllabus?
First part of the Pak Affairs syllabus reads:
Ideology of Pakistan-----definition and elucidation, historical aspects: Muslim rule in the Sub-Continent, its downfall and efforts for Renaissance. Movements for reforms-- Shaikh Ahmad Sarhindi, Shah Waliullah, Sayyid Ahmad Shaheed, Aligarh, Deoband, Nadwah, and other educational institutions-------Sindh Madrassah and Islamia College Peshawae. Ideology of Pakistan in the light of Speeches and statements of Allama Iqbal and Quaid- i Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. I have started reading Trek to Pakistan and I am confused in how much detail to study the topics. Things like Muslim League Formation, Minto Morley Reforms, Khilafat Movement, Nehru Report etc etc aren't explicitly mentioned in the syllabus. Are they excluded from the syllabus or do they fall under the 'efforts for Renaissance' part? In short, what I want to know is if the history of Pakistan before 1947, like we did in school, is included? I am really confused about the syllabus right now. |

Instead of reading Trek to Pakistan, get Ikram Rabbani or something of that sort to go through this portion. Casually go through the Pakistan Movement and its important events. Elections of 1937, Partition of Bengal those sort of things. Next, focus on the constitution development in Pakistan, the political musical chair situation, and so on. Then comes the relatively difficult part and that is knowing just about everything that happened post 2000s. So, water crises, political situation, rise of democracy, Pakistan's relations with regional countries and with US, CPEC, WoT, etc. |

Thanks a lot for your reply.
You mentioned(in the other thread) Sir Syed's contribution. I have already prepared that topic but I was surprised to see that he is not a part of the syllabus. At least his name is not directly mentioned in the syllabus. Aligarh is mentioned, but nor Sir Syed. Can you shed some light on that? The papers of last two years(since the new syllabus) also do not contain any question about him. Am I right in saying he isn't a part of the syllabus anymore? |

Whatever feels important, must be prepared whether or not it is in syllabus. Use your judgement to ascertain that. Checking out past papers would also help in that regard. |
