Discussion on "making sense of pakistan"

Dear CSS Aspirants, I have started reading this book for Pakistan affairs. It is one of the recommended books. It is proving quite difficult to be understood. Therefore, i got the idea that It should be discussed with fellow aspirants to get a good grasp of the content of this book. Therefore, please share your opinions and views about the ideas presented in this book.

I am expecting a healthy and rich discussion here!

This is a wonderful book. In quintessence, the book revolves around the impending identity crisis of Pakistan. The author delves deeper into pre and post partition history of subcontinent in order to make sense of Pakistan’s identity and it’s destiny. Pakistan, as we know is branded as an extremist country. The author probes the causes behind extremism in Pakistan. There are two arguments that why Pakistan fell prey to extremism. One, Pakistan in pursuit of being good servant of United States wreaked havoc upon its citizenry by poisoning masses with extremist ideology( Afghan Jihad etc). Second, since the inception of this land of pure the country has been ruled by ruthless dictators and autocratic civilians , both squeezed liberal values thus turning this country into a hot bed of militancy. The author , however, argues that both of the above factors along with other factors are responsible for turning this country into an inferno.

I have read introduction and first chapter of the book. According to my perception, writer has tried her level best that assuming Muslims a NATION was a mistake that we are still paying for. All the problems of Pakistan has arisen from the reason that it was obtained on the name of ISLAM because nobody agrees on unanimous meaning of Islam..... She has quoted Salman Rushdi who says that Even the name of country PAKISTAN is immigrant and came from west.
Moreover, she has gone at length to prove that Sir Sayyid Ahmad Khan and Allama Iqbal have forsaken the Muslims of Sub-continent except which fit into their geographical plans. Mr Jinnah was actually not interested in the separate homeland until the very end....... and more and more stuff of the like.......

I was expecting your introduction so that more discussion would ensue on the matter at hand. However, seems like you quite out of the discussion........
