What went wrong in CE 2018?

Hello everyone, it was really shocking for me when I saw my DMC and found that I had secured just 21 marks in pak affairs. I got only 8 mcqs correct, but my subjective portion was not that bad yet that gave me only 13 marks. Its really hard to digest.
What should I do to improve?
P.S: I got 29 in Islamic studies, but I am okay with that because i didn't do justice with the subject.

My score is 41 with 17 correct MCQS. My paper was also good. Judging by over 100 dmcs which I have seen, most of the students have very poor scores. Most of them have passed in aggregate. This subject was low scoring this year. Subject was butchered.
Go for more credible reading resources. Use their references at proper places. Add more presentation material like maps, graphs etc. Improve your analysis skills. View the topic from multiple dimensions. Hear or read what critics have to say about particular topics. National and international both views can be shared with references.

P.S: I too have failed Islamic studies. The only subject which kept me from passing CSS this year. My paper was good. I do not know what went wrong.

In 2017 I got 12 marks in IR part I and 56 in part II. I still remember drawing 10-12 flowchart/maps. If a kid solve MCQ part of IR he too will get at least 5 marks because of laws of probability. Then what marks they gave me in subjective part 7 marks?? That is not fair. Leaving CSS aside, I have craze for studying IR and for my interest in subject I took MA International Relation papers in 2017 and secured 63 percent from University of Sargodha. As a matter of fact, things are not fair in CSS. The trends are not myth. I am now indifferent to the patterns and uncertainty in CSS exams. In short, we should not focus on things we cannot control. We should improve ourselves.

Thanks for sharing your experience bro, you are right because we can't control everything. Previously, I didn't believe that FPSC targets few subjects every year, but now I do, owing to my personal experience.

I agree. Trends are not myths. There are visible patterns of scoring trends and the procedure "cut" in dmcs I have seen.

Thank you for your thorough response. Will keep your advice in mind for CE 2019 (yet to decide whether or not to appear).

Apply for this attempt. Appear only if you are confident about your preparation. IK may bring civil service reforms as indicated by him in his speech which may or may not be in our favour. Although I have time, still I am going to appear. I just want this to end. It has become really frustrating for me. Passing both English subjects in my attempts with 650 above total score and failing the subject which I can never imagine to fail even in my dreams.

I have time till 2023, but as you mentioned, its frustrating especially when I see my fellows pursuing phd and/or having good jobs. Its not about the money, but the time that needs to be invested here is too much. I am planning to appear this year.
sad to know about your results, but you will get through in this attempt, InshaAllah.

I have secured just 25 marks Pak Affair though I got 15 mcqs correct. I am also unable to digest that I have secured only 10 marks in the whole subjective part. Such magical marking can only be done by FPSC where you score 70+ in Indo Pak History and 25 in Pak Affairs.
