Certainly, the cabinet mission could defer the establishment of Pakistan if it accepted by Muslim league. Actually, the ML had accepted the mission's proposals, but later on, It was Nehru who backed out from the mission's principles that the Congress would not be bound to follow the rules, which stated that the states would be free to join either Pakistan or India after 10 years. This violation of the agreement by the Congress changed the minds of the heads of the ML too, and in result, the ML leaders announced not to go with the cabinet proposals.

But the question here asked is not about the league's acceptance or rejection of the cabinets proposals....but the question is that if this plan was adopted the establishment of pakistan wud become a dream...how?
when league under its working commite decided to accept this plan they said "dat the genes of pakistan is inherent in the grouping of provinces in group b n c" dan y examiner asked dat dis plan if accepted cud defer the establishment of pakistan? |

First of all defer means postpone.
Secondly (according to my understanding) if ML had accepted the Cabinet Mission Plan (CMP) on the Congress' terms, that is, the Congress initially rejecting the proposals to form interim govt. and then Nehru stating that the congress would enter the constituent assembly free from any prior agreements and would use its own interpretation of the CMP, obviously this would have led to lengthy debates between ML and Congress in the constituent assembly about the grouping of the provinces, thus deferring the establishment of Pakistan which the ML thought was imminent since the Muslim majority states were already grouped together according to the CMP. |

It is correct that the creation of homeland for Muslims had been delayed, but to me whether the Cabinet Mission Plan was accepted or rejected, the outcome would have been favorable to Muslims and this was a point that created a sense of fear in Nehru's mind. The Point lies in that Gandhi abhorred partition just like did Mulana Azad. When Nehru back tracked from his word, that was simply to irk Quaid A Azam so that he himself reject the proposal.
The fact is that Pakistan would/could have been made out of United India but the process had been delayed and that if (as Congressman Nehru & Sardar Patel thought) allowed to form such groups, Muslims could acquired even more stronger position and challenge some other territories after some time. The Essene of my point is that Nehru wanted a strong center and weak provinces, that is why he intentionally made an statement that caused failure of CMP. Not to mention that Quaid-A-Azam was himself very keen supporter of United Hindustan, but he only dropped that idea when they found that Hindus are not sincere in giving Muslims their due rights. If the rights of Muslims had been duly acknowledged by Hindus through CMP, I think our Quaid's stance on the issue had been different.

lets stick to the question asked
For how long and in wot way it cud deffer the establisment of Pakistan? To me it cud defer the establishment of pakistan for 10 years as provinces were given the rite to opt out from their respective groups after 10 yrz....Am i rite? And Pakistan came into being in dis way wud not have been "mutilated, truncated and moth-eaten" Rite? |
