There are other books too which I would have recommended if there was much time left in exam. If you are planning to appear in 2011 then it is preferable to lay your hands on already prepared notes since reading a book and then making your own notes would be time-taking.
Sir ii have a book by khalid bin saeed and Ikram Rabbani
Formative Phase of Pakistan by Khalid Saeed.
Should I go for it, please.

There's no harm in reading extra books in addition to the recommended ones, especially when you have ample time available.

Some of the topics are covered in Ikram Rabbani's book while you may have to look for different resources (internet + newspaper articles etc) for any specific topic. I haven't gone through Hassan Askari's book, however, I had seen his .pdf notes on virtual university's website which were good.
