Default Confusion on........

Salam Mods and Csps!

I have read in a book ( Pakistan Affairs by Ikram Rabbani) that Urdu was made an official language of India in 1825.

In an other book ( Trek to Pakistan by Ahmed Saeed) it is mentioned that it was made in 1837.

There r many difference in dates so what to believe? Please guide!

dear this is the issue of every history book don't worry , just memorize dates from any one of them . no matter how many buks u read of history or e.d.s there is always difference in figures this is my experience of 2 years . if u want suggestion then trek to pakistan is best choice.

i dont think that urdu was ever made the official language of india. the publishers make mistakes in books and their callous attitude costs the candidates some precious mks. trek to pakistan is no doubt more reliable.

@ Rabia

It is correct that the Urdu Language was made an official language of India. It was used in the courts, offices n schools because before that there was Persian. If you remeber the Urdu-Hindi controversy, You will easily understand that it was the offical language of India.
