I had Trek to Pakistan, Ikram Rabbani's book and I.H Qureshi's 'Struggle for Pakistan'. Though couldnt read Qureshi's book cover to cover but it's one of the best books if you want to clear the concepts. Rabbani's book has all the contents, covering all the topics but i observed that this book has mistakes. Someone advised and i noticed myself too, that it's expression isn't very strong. Trek to Pakistan is a good book but it doesnt cover all the topics. So, you should go through all making your short notes along.

I personally found PA a little tough subject in the sense that it's difficult to score high in this subject. So, i did the same as i suggested you. On average, i had 10-15 days for each subject but i continued PA in other days too giving it some extra time. Also, i had an edge because i had opted Indo-Pak history then.

I couldn't understand one thing and need your views, if the expressions of a good writer are not strong enough to be quoted in exam, so how can a candidate make strong expressions by making his/her notes in very first attempt?

In the PA paper one thing can enhance score i.e. attempt questions from the period after independence, although some of these topics seem to be somewhat controversial but are quite argumentative and need to be prepared well. Try to avoid attempting questions from Pakistan movement as these are the source of low scoring questions.

@ Sana Shoaib

I also had allocated 15-20 days at max for each subject in my planning but this PA thing is taking way longer time than what i planned and the most time guzzling activity is Notes making . You won't believe that on average i finish the topic in 2-3 hours but making notes takes atleast 6-7 hours . I think i should it ASAP in first go then reinforce it with extra reading along prep for other subjects. Hope it works

Jawad you have to organize yourself otherwise you will run out of time. First analyze your routine , find your time wasters and quit them for good and at once. No on else is going to find you time for study, so start with whatever time you have got in your day then gradually increase it, and on top of that be consistent in your study routine. You will be fine.

@ Ali Mallah,

A candidate can make his expression strong by other means too like reading a good newspaper. It's my own experience that if you start reading it regulalry, it gives you an advantage of a good expression. You start 'thinking' in the same expression/language/words that you read daily in a good newspaper like Dawn. You can read opinions in other international newspapers. All this combine and in the end, you're able to express your knowledge in an impressive expression.

Well, i did a combination of pre-partition and post-partition questions. There arent always plain questions demanding plain answers from pre-partition era, so i found them easy to do myself too.

@ Mehmood Ahmed,

Well, i know about this too. Some subjects take much longer. When i had to prepare my short notes, i was advised that instead of writing whole sentences, i should use 'key-words' to summarise them. They take less time to be prepared and are easy to revise before exam. But obviously, you have to stick strictly to your schedule. And for 2013's attempt, you can do it.

Best of luck!

@ Muhammad Jawad Ali,

Choose one subject and keep its book with you even when you're at work. Try to read it in the little possible time that you find when you're at work. Even if it is few minutes or half an hour or whatsoever, it counts. It will make up your tempo and prepare your mind for studies. After a week or so, plan your time table. Try to read newspaper daily, it'll help you in many ways, for essay, vocabulary, current affairs, islamiyat, Pakistan affairs etc. Dont get dishearted, just concentrate on your goal. I hope it'll work.

Good luck about the time management and everything!

P.A by ikram rabani is the best book, for the per-Independence portion, and notes of Irfan Usmani are enough to cover the pa paper...... you know there are two portion in PA. pre-independance and post-independence..... best of luck
