Read Pakistan Affairs by Muhammad Ikram Rabbani 2012 version.
Although it is a little bit difficult but it covers whole syllabus and you will not need to consult any additional book.

well Mehvish you cannot and must not start your preparation straightaway from notes or things like that as you still have 9 months(if you are appearing for 2013), i suggest you must study a book and a quality one then prepare your own notes as you will be better acquainted with your own style...
i suggest you study "struggle for Pakistan" by "I.H Qureshi"

i would rather suggest that one should not breakdown the preparation in terms of books. Go through the syllabus and then the past papers. they will offer a clue as to what needs to be covered and in what fashion.

Personal experience: Divide you studies into 3 sections: Section 1: 1857 to 1905 (Partition of Bengal). Section 2: 1905-1947. and from 1947 to date.

What I recommend for new-comers is to set analyze the paper for Pak. Affairs. If you cover the first 2 sections you can easily skipped the 3rd one (since there is choice). Similarly you can come up with a number of combinations.

Anyways at the end of the day, you need to cover the following (in detail and with a conceptual understanding and not just a ratta)

1- Constitutional History of the Subcontinent. 1773-1947
2- The Muslim revivalist movements (both Militant and Educational) and it would be an added advantage if you have a conceptual grasp over the Hindu revival movements (Raja Ram Mohan Roy etc).
3- The political history (somewhat related to the constitutional history).
4- Hindu Muslim debate
5- Problems of Pakistan (Early problems, constitutional problems, rural-urban migration, industrial issues, educational issues, terrorism, water crisis, energy crisis, unemployment etc).

So you should not limit yourself to the number of books. Just build a concept. As an example, Khilafat Movement is often pictured as a glorious struggle by the Muslims and coupled up with Gandhi and Congress for the restoration/protection of the Caliphate, eventually killed Indian Nationalism since it incorporated religion into the mainstream Politics. very few text books would ever tell you that. Very few will also tell the tale that it was Sir. Kichlew that first voiced reservations against the separate electorates and that was why the Nehru Report ultimately excluded this . So have a sound preparation.

Salam. If i start Aligarh, so it is as lengthy that it does not go off, so if i give too much time only to Aligarh and Sir Syed, so how i will cover other things, and even other subjects. This problem is not only related to Aligarh, or Shah Wali Ullah, but all such lengthy and bulky things. Kindly guide me that how to make it solve and put it in my mind.
