hey iqra, I have not gone through Imtiaz Shahid's book therefore I am unable to comment on this one. However, let me outline some of the basic questions that you need to understand and be able to answer thoroughly in order to get good marks in Pakistan Affairs or Indo-Pak History?

Set1:
1- What are the reasons for the rise of the colonial powers and the decline of the Mughal Empire?
2- Why did the War of Independence take place (is it a mutiny or war of independence?) and why did it fail?
3- Why there was a need for revivalist movements in the 19th Century India (not just Muslims but Hindu revivalist movements were there as well)?
4- What is the significance of the Aligarh Movement? What was its main message? Did it achieve its objectives? Why did Sir Syed believe in Two-Nations Theory? Why was he opposed to Muslims joining the Congress or any other Political movement for that matter? Why did he ask the Muslims to be apolitical? What was his role in securing rights for the Muslims

Set2:
1- What were the initial aims of Congress? Why did it diverge from its aims?
2- Why Bengal was partitioned? Why Congress and Hindus were against it? Why was Congress Divided on this topic? Why was the Muslim intelligentsia divided over this topic?
3- Why did the Simla Deputation raise a demand for Separate Electorates but the Bengali Muslims had no such demands?
4- Why was Muslim League Formed? Which faction of the Muslim elders and Intelligentsia led to its formation? Why was the Muslim League so Pro-British Initially (Did you know that Sir Agha Khan III and many other notables were against the creation of Muslim League initially. It was a continuation of Sir Syed's Thought)
5- Why did the Era of Hindu-Muslim Cooperation start in 1911? What did it achieve? What were its affects?
6- Why was Jinnah against the Khilafat Movement? (He was supported by m any Hindu Notables)? What is the role of Gandhi in mixing religion with politics.

the list is huge you need to be able to answer these basic questions. Only then will your preparation be sound and thorough. Plus please go through all the constitutions of the Subcontinent (and Acts as well).

it would enable you to:

-easily understand the Government of India Acts
-the differences between the ML and Congress
-the reason for creation of Pakistan
-the reason for failures of so many Plans (Cabinet Mission Plan, Cripps Mission etc)
-the early constitutional issues of Pakistan. The constitutional and political crisis of Pakistan. The difference between the Provinces and the Center. The reasons for so many Martial Laws etc.

No Sister, Delhi Sultanate is not important at all. There are hardly a few MCQs about this period (1 or 2) so that is not a big deal. It's good to have extra knowledge. For sure there were a few years where the PA paper was more in line with Indo Pakistan History paper but that seldom happens

Assalam-o-Alaikum dear friends!
I have purchased two books to prepare for the Pakistan affairs section of BPSC paper. Their titles and writers are:
1) "A Short History of Pakistan" by M.D Zafar 3rd revised ed. 2007
2) Pakistan Studies: "An analytical approach to PAKISTAN AFFAIRS" by Gul Shehzad Sarwar
....... Please guide me, if these books are good to prepare for the exam. And if these books (especially M.D Zafar's book) have objective written history of Pakistan.

For economic figures like inflation rate etc always refer to the most authentic source in Pakistan which is Pakistan bureau of statistics.

4.8% according to April-2017 monthly review by PBS
