Recommendation for subject and books

Hi,
1. Should I prepare US History from book of John Newman ?
2. I am having difficulty in connecting theories with current scenarios in Pakistan in sociology. Can you recommend any other subject ?

For US history, read Majumdar book for historical topics and for contemporary topics, search over internet and go through some articles.

Please go through sticky threads and then normal ones in US history section. You will find lots of good stuff. Maybe then you can ask any specific question.
