Angry My result, your suggestions required!!

At that time[2nd ,septmber, noon] i was already discusing possiblty of disclosure of result when a friend of mine informed that it has been announced. i hurriedly opened FPSC website, and my heart was accelerating to flutters. i opend pdf file , things were slowly getting darker infront of me , i could barely managed myself when i found that my name was not in the list of successful aspirants!!! heartattack!!! i was almost fainting, rather collapsing. i perhaps went into a transient amnesia ..
today i would like to share with you guys my pathetic dms. i would like to seek your advices/suggestions/openions.
i attempted 2k8 exam with the hope that i would ezily pass the exam. with prep of around 4 months i came with this result

roll number 669

Essay 47

composition 48

eds 72

CA 30

PA 26

Islamiyat 44

optionals

publ ad 37 (((

sociology 35

journlism 33

psychology 51+64=115

sindhi 53

========

540

failed in aggregate.

Dear aspirants i m posting my apparent flaws /mistakes paperwise . plz assisst me to the fullest possible u can.

essay :- i composed essay of about 11 pages. with one complete page reserved for outline. i think i faired well in this paper.

composition :- i did all questions , there were few mistakes in this paper like in idiom portion, i did expansion of about 2 pages , made two rough drafts of precis before putting it to paper.

Eds :- As i have background in medical sciences, i prefered questions of biology over other . i drew relevant figures whreever i felt necessary. my mcq portion of this single paper was outstaning.

[generally my mcq portion was weakly prepared. i cud only attempt 5 to 7 mcq in each paper excluding eds. ]

pakistan affair. i did this paper without putting a single sub headings or anything. actually i have not put any heading in any paper of css. i dont know sir does it matter?

current affair :- as it was a general paper so i did it with general outlook , i didnot give background of the topic.

islamiyat :- i had extensivly prepared this subject as i m weak at reproducing ayats and hadiths so what i did i penned down all ahadiths and ayats sepatly on a copy and inculcated all of these. in my paper i put all relevant ayats, but i didnot mention any surah number or source of hadith at any point.

psychology paper:- mcq portion again was weakly prepared. however compared with other subjects it brought me some relief.

sociology :- comparbly i did upto 10 mcq in corrct range. but i could only do three essay type questions , i was weakly prepared in the last essay type que

publ ad :- my stance in one question was anti state but in a polite and reasonable way. again final question essay type weakly prepared and mcq portion of this paper i think was worst prepared.

sindhi :- not as good as hoped but it come as some relief. again mcq weakly prepared.

generalizations :-

1. mcq portion of all papers except eds was not worked out.

2. i didnot give any heading or sub headings in any paper except possibly in islamiyat.

3. average length of my answer was 2 and 1/2 pages, i could only blacken 11 pages of each paper.

4. i used single blue point

5. i didnot mention definition of any noted scientist in their respective field. as in journlism i went on without first giving definition, in pub ad likewise, in sociology i didnot quote refrences or definitions or varied views.

Sir i would like to ask you few questions in addition to what ever u want to add :

i consulted one of my friend who was on 8th position in 2k7 , he said he draw maps and tables in current affair paper..

plz guide me in areas which u deem weak in my case, because upcoming attempt would be my last one. due to my age factor, i want to score well this time
your help will surely go a long way in my prep.

looking forward to your kind , analytical reply

regards

salam
well seen your Dmc
needs improvement in optional espacially.
subjects like juornalism eds and grammer if prepared well give you really good marks.
you also need to prepare mcqs separately from objective books after confirming ,and also along with your subjective part .
no need of heading put them where its must like pak affair Q of reason of east pak debacle.
for current affairs do give background of each Q you attempt it gives a good impression.
stay focused till the end even one of your paper goes bad.
you must pass all papers and make good aggregate not fail and with highest marks in one or two subjects.
you could do better in languages as their score this time was good.
pak affairs was not current pak affairs what most candidates thought, it was totally indo pak II copy.
never lose hope have confidence in your ability.

@ sweet devil
i dont think that many of those who have cleared were dumb i think one must first deserve than desire.
i think its a discriminatory statement on others ability to do well.

@Versatile

Dont get panicky. Ur result is not that bad. However, there is a room for improvement. Focus on ur weaknesses. Ur optional side is weak. Work more on optionals. Let me comment on ur generalizations:

1. U need to go through previous papers and try to attempt MCQs on ur own. That ll give u an idea how much prepared u r.

2. No need to give headings and sub headings in any paper.

3. No specific length is required. Answer shd be compact, clear and comprehensive.

4. U can use any kind of pen. I used a ball point.

5. Quoting any writer, scholar or historian can bolster ur point of view.

6. It is sufficient to rely on facts and figures in Current Affairs paper. No need to take extra pain in drawing maps and tables.

@verstile
i m agree with suggestions of forum members that u should consult with old papers etc but i am strongly opposed to the idea of not using headings and sub headings.only in eassy paper one should not use headings but these r neede in all other papers.rather i m of the view that one should attempt paper in point form, bcoz it not only gives value to ur paper but examiner also feels comfortable with such papers.paper presentation is key for good marks.i myself has checked papers of english in fedral board and know how a paper with beautiful presentation score marks, neet handwriting, use of marker.points add a lot in the embalishment of ur paper and win heart of examiner at fiest sight.so dont ignore heading, sub headings and points in ur papers .
secondly u must explain the topic first ,its very good to start with the defination of the topic by a well known scholar in case of journalism, sociology , public add and also in psychology.
so far as c.a is concerned ,one can write backgroud of the topic but not at the very out set of the question, but after clearing the most recent situation and dont give a large space to backgroud.
u should also increase the length of ur questions, its too short that u have mentioned.
infact u should start paper with the question that u think is u have best material to take down, this question should b atleast of 7 to 9 pages.
attempt the last question which u think u have least material to take down it can b of 3 to 4 pages .
so u wil give more time to ur first question and less to the last question ,u should manage time accordingly.

@ easha

I apologize for bursting your bubble but I disagree with the idea of making headings and sub headings. i never made any headings in any of my papers and yet i got a good score. but i did one thing though: i underlined the important things in my answers. I did that in this way. i wrote my answers in black ink, but had a blue marker with me. i underlined every important thing with that blue marker. but i never made headings.

your material, not your headings, matter. this is not an matriculation exam. keep that in mind

@mahmood
sir i know its not matriculation exam, but paper presentation is always important what ever exam it may be.u urself answer it that u underline the important points with marker, isn't it adds to paper presentation?one should highlight the main points whether it is through headings or through highlighting points, or through bullet style.obviously material is important,if there is no material how u will make heading or what u will highlight?

headings or no headings ,matter counts a lot.the examiner reads your paper comprehensively so even if you dont highlight or make headings is not important.i believe you need no ornamentation if your writing is neat and clear.but where you think its the requirment go ahead do it.
well this time all my compulsory were without headings and i did use headings in journalism and zoology thats it.
so dont worry and prepare well as you said material is important.best wishes.
