I'm my self allocated in the OMG Group...so here i'm sharing informationa bout OMG Group...

Office Management Group
Consequent to the administrative reforms of 1973, various occupational groups were created to function within the overall framework of the Civil Services. These occupational groups replaced the different services existing at that time. The Office Management Group (OMG) was one such group that replaced the erstwhile Central Secretariat Service.

The officers of the OMG function in the Federal Secretariat at the level of Section Officers (BPS-17 & 18) and are also posted on deputation or under Section 10 of Civil Servant Act, 1973 to provincial governments, attached/subordinate departments, authorities/corporations, District Governments etc. upto the level of BPS-18. The cadre of OMG in BPS-19 is elevated/merged into the Secretariat Group (SG), a specialized group consisting of officers of all occupational groups according to an allocated share. They are then posted at senior levels in the federal and provincial secretariats and elsewhere in any government organization/body as part of All Pakistan Unified Grades (APUG).

The OMG/SG today is a more dynamic and broad-based cadre than its predecessor (Central Secretariat Service). A specialized pre-service training programme equips the new entrants with the necessary administrative skills, and mandatory refresher courses/capacity building techniques are useful to have the officers retain the cutting edge of modern management. This helps them in realizing their full potential and chalking out a successful career growth strategy. Besides, an exposure of not only the Federal Secretariat, the apex decision making body, but of various other field departments and organizations including Pakistani missions abroad imparts them with the necessary breadth of vision and experience to serve their country more better in a senior position. Throughout the past years, young and energetic officers from various academic and professional backgrounds have filled the posts in the cadre.

STP of OMG is conducted by STI (Secretariat Training Institute) in Islamabad. STP of OMG is of 16 weeks as mentioned by STI. However STI has not yet released the syllabus of STP at their website.

OMG officer can work on deputation but only for 3 years. Mobility is minimum as compared to dmg. But, as far as promotions are concerned it seems 2 be attractive to some extent, as one can jump to BS-19 in just 8 years.

i dont knw much about omg but what i knw i will share wid u.
one of ma relatives is in omg before he was regional director NCHD, and at the moment he is serving as GM ADMIN NHA.
another friend of ma uncle is serving at the moment as joint secretary SAFRON.
furthermore one can easily see the cv of our interviewer in css MR SYED TARIQ ALI BUKHARI on the fpsc website.

Yes, omg is a good group,, but as far as i know there is no post of GM ADMN IN NHA, however there is a post of DG admn in nha which is currently occupied by civil servant of DMG group.
most of the civil servants of omg group remain within secretariat through their career,so they get continuously working with highups and senior civil servants bt their field exposure has been found to b v low.

Amjad Hafeez here. Congrats to all of you. OMG is a group having diversity and horizontal mobility but these people suffer due to DMG monoply and secondly it has been revived after a long time and OMG has lateral entries too. It could not develop as cohesive group such as DMG and other CSS groups are but with 37th CTP and onwards, there is possibilty of developing it into more dynamic group.

Congratulations to all friends who have got OMG.I have also been placed in the same group.As for as i know, its a neat and clean service and one has ample oppurtunities to rise higher in life and prove ones mettle. Thanks to AFRMS for starting this useful thread. Best of luck to all.
