@ Naveed

First of all, don't lose hope. I failed my first attempt by scoring 5 less marks in English Essay. But tried again and cleared my written part this time.

Secondly, when you receive your DMC, you should then analyse your mistakes and weaknesses. Plan systematically to over come your weaknesses.

Thirdly, there is no exact pattern of CSS exam papers. You should be overall confident enough to answer the given questions and concentrate on what is actually asked and stick to it. For that, you do not have to rely only on prescribed books or notes. Read any type of material and books that would help you gain knowledge. REMEMBER, even if you fail CSS exam, you have gained more knowledge than any other person who did not appear in the exam.

Fourthly, plan systematically and accordingly. Go into past papers section in this forum and look into repeated questions threads for every module. Make a list of it and prepare small points to remember the answers.

Fifth, use youtube and other resources available to you, because this will help you not only to understand the concepts in a better way but, it will also stick to the back of your memory.

Remember, there is a difference between ordinary Hard Work and systematic Hard Work.

Good luck for your next try.

Assalam O Alaikum,

Hearty Congrats to the passers and wish others best of luck in their future attempts and endeavors. I failed two consecutive attempts of CSS back in 2003 & 2004 but never lost patience and tried my luck in almlost every exam that came in my way. A rigorous CSS study has helped me to get a decent job which I have been doing since last two years and recently passed Combined Competitive Examination. All of my friends who prepared for CSS with me have acquired good jobs either through FPSC or SPSC and others. The motive behind depicting this historiography of mine is to motivate those capable youngsters who could not get through due to the elements of luck and mistakes in CSS 2009. Be brave and don't lose heart because brave ultimately muddles through the difficult times. Allah Hafiz

Default @candidates from sindh

Friends
This was also my last attempt and honestly speaking I was very sure I will make it this time but my no wasnt in the list.
Am waiting desperately 4 DMC
I would also request tht u folks dont lose hope as i think something can b done abt it.
Firstly, the failures in CSS 2008 due to aggregate r in court. Barrister zameer ghumro is pleading their case and the plea is tht practice of aggregate shud be relaxed 4 Sindh bcoz evry yr lot of vacancies go unfilled and the policy shud be brought at par with tht of 80 when simply passing was enough.
Secondly, many qualifiers also cleared CSS 2009 so expect lesser candidates to fill the 2010 slots than Mr Bhutto points out.
Thirdly, i feel the conspiracy theory for mark deduction should also be probed more.
I request again DONT LOSE HOPE

Lightbulb Stunned!

Nothing can console the courageous candidates from Indus Valley for their agony and crippled fate unless they themselves strive for overcoming it. I am an amateur in the CSS arena but I have witnessed the painstaking patience of those awaiting their results as well as their jubilant and flamboyant moods when they were proclaimed victorious. I am appalled as well. While it is true that all is well if end is well, i.e If result is positive, you forgive the pains suffered during preparation. However, I remember something my teacher once told me when I didn't fetch any distinction in college debate competition. He said,
"Honour lies in struggle, not in achievment."
I remind this to myself in every contest I participate. The purpose of stating it here is nothing but encouraging and rejuvenating my fellow patriots from southern region. Being an aspirant for the upcoming exam in feb;2010, I empathize with everyone out there who has been bestowed with a chance to take this exam.

Regards,

CSS quota system
Friday, 11 , 2009
THE CSS is the topmost examination in terms of competition in Pakistan. Recruitment is made on the basis of open merit and the provincial quota system. The latter is the exclusive proportion as well as the right of the provinces.

As a matter of fact, the quota in Sindh witnessed around 80 vacant seats till the allocation in 2008. These seats are placed in the provincial quota. Owing to the lack of qualified candidates in the province, the seats remain unoccupied.

History reveals that during the 1970s, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the then prime minister, had ordered the allocation of aggregate failures against vacant seats because they are the exclusive right of candidates belonging to the same province. Similarly, the case is before the law.

In the CSS 2008 examinations, a multitude of candidates from Sindh failed in the aggregate.

Barrister Zamir Hussain Ghumro, after a thought-provoking analysis, has found the provision for the allocation of aggregate failures against vacant seats.

Senator Moula Bux has also taken the case to put it up in the Senate. In this connection, the Supreme Court is requested to take suo motu notice of the matter.

Moreover, President Asif Ali Zardari must look into the matter, keeping in view the legal provision and discretionary powers to allocate seats to aggregate failures.
