But I have meet many ppl saying that your vocab shuld be good and you should use some extraordinary and different words (personally i dont believe that this is important, despite that I believe, we should use simple words and our sentetce should make a sense and we should have a good material in our skull) then why most of the guys try to prove themselves by showing their extraordinary and difficult vocab?

Well if you refer back to my post, i never said/supported that one should be verbose in his writing skills. I said Good/Effective English with a sound Vocabulary. Don't use long sentences, or difficult words. It's good if you can but don't try to be something that you are not. I wrote small sentences, equal sentenced paragraphs, and i wrote ordinary English.

But the example below explains my point:

"Mahmud rose to the seat of power at age Xyz" could be written well if said "Mahmud rose to the throne at age XYZ". So there is an appropriate word for every occasion. This is the type of vocabulary i was refering to. One should have a sense to identify the word for the proper occasion and plug it in where it seems fit and required!

In past papers of different subjects like Public Administration, Journalism etc, most of the questions are states to give one's (candidates) own opinion, remedies etc.
What do you think that how much it is necessary to stick to the opinions made in the text books which we study? or one can also write his own opinion in his own style quoting some logical and resonable examples?

Well brother, i believe no opinion is our own opinion. We are not PHDs or Researchers in this field. We read books by different authors, gather knowledge from different sources and then base our opinions upon them. Thus our opinions are volatile i.e. they will change as our knowledge base increases, which ofcourse depends upon the amount of study/effort that you put into the subject!!!

Smile Tricks of the trade!

Hey friends, comrades n aspirants..I have cleared the written portion this year n have been teaching CSS classes at KIPS..I will share with u some tips of scoring well in each paper, and some general ones..small things, that can make a big difference..I shall start discussing them paper by paper
ENGLISH PRECISE:
Not many ppl wud know, but passing or failing this paper actually depends on ur passing the Precis itself..if u fail in it n get decent marks in other portions,u most probably wud be declared fail..its not a written rule, rather a custom.so allocate atleast 50-60 mins to the précis alone..I did it at the end of the paper..nw is the question of how to go about it..first make a rough draft..take the 1st four lines of the passage,n try compressing them..use ur own words 99% of the time..replace the passage’s words wid synonyms..u need to do sum thinking for that..thats y u need an hour for précis alone.ok u did the first 4 lines..now go to the second four lines and so on..dis way ull have compressed or summarized the whole passage,in a ruff format..do not quote any direct speech as such.try avoiding examples.try n replace phrases n sentences wid single words if possible.Ok so nw Uv got a rough draft of ur précis.go over it again.see where u can improve it,replace wid better words n expressions..try n build up connections in the patched up parts..precise need not be a beautiful piece of writing;it shud be easily comprehensible simple piece of summary..try n remain within the word limit..dont do it too short or too long..Ull most probably need to make 2 rough drafts b4 writing down a neat one..tip:make the rough drafts not at the back of ur paper, but in the normal sequence..like u write down the questn number of précis,n do all ur rough work under it..crocc it n do the neat one on next page.benefit;the examiner wud be impressed by ur approach.he shall knw uv done it systematically n hve put in a lot of effort in it..after all,u need to impress him don’t u??
P.S:I have started a thread under the same title in CSS-2010 folder..Ill be regularly posting tips regarding different papers n how to attempt them generally there..u can refer to it n also question me regarding any querries n problemz..for more, luk there

Default Tip for qualifying written part of css

Luck is like sand in hands. It will sneak out through the fingers,no matter gripped firmly or held loosely. Only hands in the praying posture can save it.

Throughly study a book and then make your own note by extracting only key points from the topics (this will be your second fast read). Suppose if a topic is of 2 pages on the book, while making note reduce it to 5-6 key points. It will shorten your syllabus. A whole book of 500-600 pages will contract in 50-60 pages of your notes. Make a habbit to read those notes 2-3 times.
This will also help you in improving your writing skills and you'll start understanding things by reading your own notes instead of someone's else !!
While reading those points, also consult the book where needed!!
