I am myself an electrical engineer and have a firm grip on electronics, magnetism, wave theories and much more included in Physics syllabus. But I am avoiding any pure science subject. I met a few relatives of mine who have previously cleared the exam and they all forbade me to opt these subjects due to the fact that in these subjects "You know or you don't know"

I just studied engineering economics of 3 credits in my degree so I won't claim to provide you a better guide. But, after looking at previous records of the candidates, BA has been a high scoring subject. Secondly, I believe BA isn't kind of pure sciences subject where you can't handle a question if you know nothing about it. At least you can write something to avoid a "Zero" on your answer. In local words "Idhar udhar ki maar saktay hain"

It's better not to go with physics unless uu ain't masters in physics. Having Physics as my major, at least I wont suggest uu to go with it. Had it be that eady as it looks from the syllabus, every one would have gone for it. Besides energy, it needs a lot of time for one who doesn't have a masters or at least bachelors(PU) in it.

True that. Physics or any pure science subject is advisable only for those who have sole Bachelors or Masters in this subject. Having studied pure science subjects in engineering hardly covers only 10% syllabus provided by FPSC. So, for engineers, it's a big NO.

IR

Why? Because IR is a very comprehensive subject that comes with a lot of diversity. If you opt for IR, you can automatically cover almost 40%-80% syllabus of the following subjects:

I. Law
History (US or European)
Current Affairs
Pakistan Affairs (about 20-30%)

Moreover, due to its diversity and scope of information, it also helps a lot in essay.

But what about paper 2 of IR?
Most people got marks in 40's in paper 2 and many failed it as well, despite getting good marks in paper 1.
