Default FPSC to hold one paper per day
Hi everyone,

This article was published in today's Express Tribune:

ISLAMABAD:
To ease off the pressure on candidates appearing in Central Superior Services (CSS) examinations, the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has decided to hold one paper a day, unlike the previous practice where the aspirants would appear in two papers a day.

The FPSC took the decision at a time when the federal cabinet is scheduled to take up the proposed restructuring of the commission after pressure mounted about the low passing rate in the examination.

“Yes, we the commission have decided to take up some steps and in the upcoming examinations one paper will be held each day,” FPSC Secretary Ameer Tariq Zaman confirmed to The Express Tribune, adding that it was one of the recommendations the commission deliberated upon.

Similarly, it has been decided that from now onwards the commission will aggregate the marks for English essay and précis/composition, according to Zaman.
Does anyone know if this is from CE-18 or planning for future exams?

I don't think this can be implemented before CE-19 since the rules for CE-18 are already published. But I hope it is because it's a good suggestion.

Would it be really possible that One paper would be held on a single day?
secondly, Is it true? Essay & Precis papers aggregation would be evaluated?
since Only Tribune has published this news whereas It has not come across other news channels and media!

Let’s hope for the best cos in the rules it doesn’t explicitly says that 2 papers will be held in one day. That has more to do with administration and logistical availability. Same thing goes for essay and precis, i checked the rules, nowhere does it says that c.a p.a and gen ability will be marked cumulatively out of 120, so u never know

Rules for CE 2018 clearly mention aggregate of 120 marks to pass General Knowledge paper.

(viii) The three papers of General Knowledge (GK-I, GK-II & GK-III) are to be passed collectively by scoring 120 marks out of 300.
(ix(a)) COMPULSORY SUBJECTS (600 MARKS)

(1) Essay 100
(2) English (Precis and Composition)) 100

(3) General Knowledge :
Paper - I General Science & Ability 100}
(General Science: (MCQs = 20 marks, subjective = 40 marks)
Ability: subjective = 40 marks)
Paper - II Current Affairs 100}
Paper - III Pakistan Affairs 100}

(4) Islamic Studies or Comparative Study of Major 100
Religions (For Non-Muslims)

Total : 600

Holding one paper a day is hardly a big deal and cannot have anything to do with rules ce-2018. So let’s see

There is a newly uploaded press release on the FPSC website right now. I am trying to download it, but it's not completing. Can anyone check it and post here? It may be related to this rumour.

it says that one paper per day rumor is wrong, and fpsc will hold papers according to previous trend of two papers per day, secondly the news of English essay and precis paper aggregate is also false and candidate has to pass both papers

Default FPSC has refuted news about aggregating marks
FPSC has officially refuted the news about aggregating marks of English Essay and English Composition paper in a press release. I tried to upload file on the forum but, couldn't.

However, FPSC has abstained from explaining news about holding one paper per day.

Sadly, my moment of euphoria has evaporated. I thought, FPSC was actually going to aggregate marks of Essay and Composition paper.

LESSON: Never lend ear to the news sources of academies and so called CSS gurus.

Best of luck to the aspirants of CSS 2018.
