Hi everybody !

Hope the warriors of light are back after test of their mettle. It was my maiden and nice experience.

Compulsory and Optional Papers were good. Members are requested to share and start solving objective portion of their respective papers.

But, i am not satisfied with the quality of invigilation during the exam. I was astonished to see future aspirants boldy asking one another. I don't know what passion they had regarding CSS, and most importantly what they would do with this country after becoming CSPs.

To get through this exam depends heavily on your struggle and Allah's favour because man only gains what he strives for. It's a separate issue, but the character and attitude matter alot. CSS aspirants didn't fear to ask...

In short, great experience.

asalamulaikum every body!
I would like to share my experience of CSS 2008. In general it was quite an interesting experience as it was my first one. I would like to educate all the beginners or firsttime appearers that things have been exaggerated about this exam.I have found that there were three types of students who appeared in this exam. One was the type which was very well prepared, that is atleast a year or two preparation including the students from css academy and 2nd or third time appearance. The second type was a student with average preparation that is from one to three months and the third type was that just appeared in css exam to learn from it and to appear next year with better preparation. Now the problems i saw in the first type was that the students appeared to have over burdened themselves with so much knowledge that it was hard for them to limit their words in answering questions, they looked more tired and ill to be quite honest. The second type was seen studying till the last moment before appearing in the exam. This type looked a bit nervous about what might happen to them as they have prepared very little and the problem they faced was coming up with facts and figures in justifying their answers to the questions. The third type was relaxed and they appeared just to see how it goes and what they should do to appear next year. But one thing i noticed that before appearing in this exam every one tried to feed it in my mind that it is an impossible thing and trust me after appearing i found out it's not as much as i've been told. The exam was conducted in a nice environment and i would agree with the statement that i saw students asking each other and also noticed the invigilators not bothered about it, some students were even allowed to go for smoke breaks in between attempting the papers. I would leave with a positive note for all new CSS aspirants that work hard , do not over burden your minds, get some facts and figures to decorate your answers and give the exam in a relaxed mood and try to make notes in bullet forms so that you can revise it at the last moment.

Hello everyone

Well this years essay paper was difficult in comparision to last year.

English precis and composition was way too easier than last years paper and the vocabulary section was so "halwa" although there was a print mistake in it...

everyday science was good...

current affairs paper was very strange... firstly everything was regarding Pakistan, and no international issue was covered...secodnly, few questions were more fit for css 2007 current affairs paper such as the question regarding Kashmir issue...

In Islamiat paper the workload was increased more as 10 marks MCQ were added and the number of other questions to be attempted remained the same so time management was a problem...

overall the papers went well...

and yes one more thing that has been mentioned by people above is that invigilation was very lenient as candidates were openly asking each other and nobody was stopping them...that was a source of disturbance for other candidates..

good luck to everyone...
regards.

salam
well to start with english both papers were ok.
essay paper was general simple topics but its was all about your expression
composition relatively easy if you compare it with past years
eds was ok subjective very easy ,objective was not very easy
current affairs was bit different as nothing from international scene was asked
it was more of current pak affairs.
Pak affairs was more like indo-pak II paper ,but was ok
Islamiat very lengthy,objective was difficult.

i totally agree with awaaz ,iceman and asifr about the invigilation.it was strange to see candidates openly asking the objectives .
over all experience was good.
i wish them best of luck who were serious about the exam.
regards

Thumbs up I have done my work now waiting for luck

My experience was enjoyable and as well learning process. I enjoyed a lot. I think CSS Exam is matter of subjects choice. Its matter how to tackle whole the paper. Inspite preparation and having a lot information ; we feel confusion at Examination hall what to do. At the spot who writes well analytically and comprehensively through proves and facts it gets well end and well outcome. Moreover it is exam of our mental capacity, Psychological temprament, mood and ability of consistency. Ones who remains calm, peaceful and to the point to its question; I think he can do well. Whole the exam is matter of analytical ability of the ones approach towards issues of every kind. I conclude that its exam of luck as well.....70% ur luck and 30% hardworking combines make sucess sure.........

Asalam o Alaikum everyone,

To take the CSS exam is an amazing experience and at times it is very stressful for the candidates who have worked hard to be successful and to secure good marks in all papars compulsory as well as optional as well.Especially during the first 3 days lots of pressure mounts after taking paper after paper but i believe this is the beauty of CSS exam...........
Well, 2008 was my second attempt as i got more than 700 marks last year but the precis paper ditched me and after that i started doubting the criterion of FPSC to guage the potential of the candidates to become civil servants.
Last year it happened with many competent candidates.......
But to my belief one must always try and do one's best while leaving the rest on God......therefore i took it again. The environment in which exam was conducted was extremely pathetic as we had to write with out lights, fans and in darkness in the wake of massive load sheddings.
Unfortunately, this year not only the mind but the eyes also had a very tough time.
Well, it is said that no pains ....no gains.Lets see how much we gain out of all those pains?
Best of Luck to all.
Qurat

There is one assumption on the part of FPCS. that is how much more analytically, emphatically, dispassionately can u put your point of view across...ofcourse this needs back of horde of knowledge on which to build. But when you have put your best part in exam n you still fail to standards then its openions, ur point of view.. n above all, mood of a checker with your response. your answer may be technically correct but it may fail to arouse desired result cos the examiner happens to have been sated with more powerful arguments of other compititors....

my exprience has been very rewarding.. i enjoyed it from the very first to very last day of pyschology paper... i attempted essay on " Peace the essential message of islam" if any one want to analyse my outline i can post it in relevant portion of this forum..
every day science was a piece of cake.. i saild on fairly well, till Public adminstration at which spot i realised , " i m really taking CSS !" mcq were fairly hard n they were confusing.. but i managed to do it... i have taken risk in this paper as i have argued against beauracratic system.... on a question where it was asked that '' we are brown skinned english men" i have proved that we are brown skinned englsh man, i know that this is quite risky, but i have tried to prove that it is system that has inherent flaws and not the people who are just cogs.... if a cog happen to be from brown skinn that makes no difference to system.... but i m really worried about outcome of this paper.............

overall experience has been good cos i got to express my point of view with repertoire of factual knowledge.....

regards
