for second or third attempt seekers

case scenario: you have taken the first or second attempt, and you have either failed it or did not get allocated. in either case you did not go through. you are dejected. :hurt you dont like life or world. you are depressed. you think it is the end of the world. you dont want to touch books again. you dont want to go through the humiliation of CSS again. what do you do?

well here is the thing. become a "baghairat":) and go through the humiliation atleast another time. the thing that the three chances are available precisely because they know that not everyone will get through it in the first try. some are lucky enough;others have hard lucks. its nothing to lose your heart at.

the first thing you have to do is to start believing in yourself. that is the most important thing: you should believe that you can do it. that you can pass the exam this time around.
the second thing is to restart studies. things will be boring but they will be easier this time around. start anew as if you are reading everything for the first time. dont neglect the subjects that you had a good score in the previous attempt. a good score in any subject does not guarantee a better one in the next attempt.
exhaust all your three attempts. dont leave them. atleast you will be content later on that you tried even if you did not get selected.

thanks for the suggestion but

thanks dear mehmood for ur suggestions of becoming "bagharat" but its too difficult to start from the scratch, i failed by one number and my students went through with flying colours, how could i?????? i think u r understanding my position, i have started reading motivational books but these are not helping too, what should i do at this point of time i dont know...

mahmood Saturday, September 27, 2008 05:01 PM

here is the thing brother. it does not matter. one year's bad luck, or for that matter good luck, does not go into other year calculation. CSS is just a precarious exam. to tell you the truth it has nothing to do with your intelligence, a little to do with your preparation and a lot to do with your presentation. in fact it is so unpredicatable that you could top it one year and, if you take it again, you might fail it. there is no guarantee.

I passed 2004 exams, stood 229th and did not get allocated. then i failed the 2006 attempt. i was so sure that i would pass it. i never prepared for my english papers and i never practised essays. I was so sure of passing both the english papers. but for some odd reason the 2006 examiner thought my English was not upto his caliber. and so it he did not think it was a good essay that year. i was so dejected that i did not want to take the last attempt. and yes one of the guys that i used to, kinda, coach regularly in English had passed that year. but had not.

but then one of my friends in the service told me to take the last attempt. another ASP told me a great story. he said that he knew a guy in the police service who lived right across his house. he said the first time that person took the exam he was 194th. on the second attempt he did worse, he stood 594th. on the last attempt he stood second. so his conclusion: there is no criteria for this exam. take the papers and forget about them until the result is declared. "hope for the best and prepare for the worst."

so i must advise you to regroup yourself. dont go for those foolish books. everything comes from within you. if you think you are capable of doing it, then in one of the next two chances you will be able to do it.

cheer up. dont waste your time. start preparing.

@A Goof
I agree with Mahmmod. Brother,I Think you should gather your forces and fight the odds once again and prove to your self that you can do it. Although it is easier said than done, i m sure you shall do it, InshaAllah.I shall pray for you. May Allah bless you and meet you with success, Ameen.

it does not matter, what syllabus/no of exams u r going through, all is in the name of exam. As u have once appeared in 2007, now is your second chance.

I also wholly accede with Bro Mahmood (the courageous), I must say we all aspirants are basically fighters and a good fighter never gives up till last round. We are determined, we are energetic, patriotic Pakistani blood ready to counter the bloody challenges. These hip hops are the part of life; it doesn't mean that we should renounce and confine ourselves in crusty core of pessimism, yea being pessimist, getting damn hyper is natural after suffering injustice in return of our day&night diligence, but running out of the ring by getting influenced with some nice shots in the beginning isn't the sign of bravehearts.

Bro Mahmood plz don't use the term "Bayghyrat", atleast we are not enqueued in that rammish line, I must say Bayghyrats are those who have sold honorable Dr.Aafia Siddique and hundreds of innocent subject to whites' hands, Bayghyrats are those who have thrown our Pakistan in the center of civil war, bayghyrats are those who openly and shamefully praise Alaska governor's beauty and expresses curiosity to hug her and violate Islamic eithics. To the say the least we are not Bayghyrat, the term that we deserve is "True Pakistani", who, for their country willing to step in the filthy system to sanify it. I myself have been flunked twice despite striving for it to the maximum degree, I including my rest of the counterparts aren't so dunce to be thrown in the dustbin like this. I'm a position holder of "Pure Mathemics" master's program and was also enlisted in the TOP 10 list of science faculty of my University, but what happened in CSS simply shook my shoulders just like that of others. Despite such adverse failures I've once again revivified my studies, believe me folks from here I realize that ALLAH really wants to give us an important duty and thats the reason why HE's testing us so hard.

I inculcate again, don't give up if u truely believe on ALLAH RABBUL IZZAT, with HIS mercy and grace we can cross all hurdles no matter how much tiring they might be.

ALLAH PE AMANA.

I am not sure what kind of details you want to know about my experience. if you could be a little more specific i would be obliged.

so far as the preparations are concerned, i think you still have enough time to start preparing for the exams. you have around five and half months, and that i think is enough time if you devote time to your study. remember it is about quality time you put in; its not how much time you give, but how much you gain in that time. some people can pick anything up easily, others dont. i know someone who studied for more than a year before appearing in 2008, and scored 115 ( yes you are reading that correct):cry . so it really depends upon your grasping power.
secondly are the ultimate selected css applicants quite gud in academics!!..
I dont think all of the selected candidates are quite good in academics. though that helps because if you have been a brilliant student that means you either have good grasping power or else you are just plain hardworker. and either, or both, of those qualities will effect your score. but it is not necessarily the question of being good academically. I have had good grades throughout my academic career. but there are some other people who have had average grades. to tell you the truth, it really depends on what you write in your CSS papers that will determine how you score.
3rdly sir i want to knw whether army captain job and bank job ,,better thn css job...wat u wud suggest...i hope u wud answer me in detail...thanxs
I can not compare Army Captain and bank job to CSS:unsure: . I have never worked in either of those things. and so far, i have not even proceeded to CSS job either ( still waiting for training). what i have heard from other people is that bank jobs are often very hectic, as are most of the private jobs. besides opportunities are limited. I had also been selected in state bank as an economic analyst but i did not join it because i had already gotten into CSS. my preference against any of those jobs is CSS. it really depends on you which job suits your abilities and desires.

now one thing that i would like to suggest: stop using textspeak. by textspeak i mean the way you have written your post, replacing "with" with "wid", "the" with "da" etc. that will certainly show unconsciously in your papers, and it will reflect poorly on your personlity, and will certainly get you less marks. in english papers it is even dangerous because that comes under wrong spellings and given the strictness with which english papers are treated in CSS, that could hurt you a lot.

i hope i have given you a satisfactory answer.
