as your brother is in OMG,i want to know that whether we will only serve as section officers in federal/provincial govt departments or can we be allocated on DMG positions as well???

yes all cspsof scale 19 and above can jump to other groups only if president and PM give approval for it. that is very rare
if pm is agreed even an omg officer can work as dco chichawatni and vice versa ie a deputy commisioner of dmg group can work as deputy secretary in secretariat(omg ). very recently a rift had started b/w dmg and foriegn office because PM had appointed a dmg officer as diplomat in france , so there is nothing to worry about groups as all of them are csps and thats it...

although there are diff aspects of hz mobility and one of them is these officers can work in diff departments on deputation.
other aspect is that these officers have highest PR than other csps as they are working in the most respected office i.e PRIME MINISTER secretariat
there aare other meanings of hz mobility as well
hope that forum members are well aware about what is meant by vertical mobility

yes , in addition to respect an omg officer gets a vehicle when he becomes a deputy secretary.(BS-19).

AOA,

i was jus so curious and somewhat apprehensive about the thing which i have heard form so many ppl that OMG ppl are posted only in islamabad for the first 2 gradez? i.e for almost 8 yearz? is it true? arent the OMG ppl posted in Lahore or other cities?
and if in case the Islamabad-posting thingee is correct then do tell wether accommodation is provided to the officer or not?
do throw some light on the said concernz.

thoughtful response will be highly welcomed and warmly thanked.

yes it is not necessary that all of the omgians serve in secretariat, although, most of them do so. I know one of the omgians in grade 18 currently working as director NIPA lahore. SO , it depends on ones approach and interest also.
However, omgians serve out of secretariat 4 a limited period of time then they have to come back to their origin.
Residence is not given bt only house rent of RS 1500 is paid.
An omgian working told me, i quote
"IF NAME OF OMG IS CHANGED, THIS GROUP WILL REACH AT THE BOTTOM OF OPTION LIST FOR NEW CSS ASPIRANTS. ONLY CHARM IN THIS GROUP LEFT IS THAT ITS NAME IS QUITE SIMILAR TO DMG, "
ALTHOUGH REAL ENJOYMENT FOR OMGIANS STARTS AFTER THEY REACH IN GRADE 20.
I HOPE CIVIL SERVICE REFORMS SOLVE ABOVEMENTIONED PROBLEMS WITH ALL OF THE CSS GROUPS
