Dear Asif, Mismanagment and all PAAS Officers,

This brother of yrs was away for a while and really missed u guys though i had some complaints about PAAS officers who dint respond to my thread and i cried in the wilderness for a week or so. I'm thnkful ta ol o u for providing such nice bits of info about our group. well, its good that u guys finally chipped in with few bit of things otherwise i was afraid tht Mr. Mismanagment would definitely make a mess of things cos his very name is not orderly or manageria..lolz..

PAAS was my 5th choice and i too dont no why i put it on that number. may be it was luck that wanted to drive us to this field. somehow, we gotta be thankful to Allah for letting us in this grup cos it might have been a dream for some to become a paas officer and instead we are there now.. For missmanagment, iv few words,

since we have studies same subjects so we are likely to be more like minded than the rest, nd u no the reason. khoob guzregee mill baithengay deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewany dou i mean 2.. hope u getting this nasty stuff in Egnlish. yeah.


i'm sure PAAS officer lub some moj masteeeeeeeeeeeeee also, so plz come up with some cute stuff such as jokes, n tidbits or titbits i donno, n n n of course gazals etc.. thos are exempted from this who dont have any taste for gazals but dont u worry, u'll be stuffed with plenty of such stuff once u share your room with any of we two, i mean cosmic libertine or miss manage mint..

I also belong to PAAS - 37th Common.

After allocation, i searched for the career prospects regarding PAAS. I found out that this group remined low profile due to lack of its public dealings (as are common in dmg, psp, itg, ceg etc.) but PAAS officers are called 'bureaucrats of the bureaucrats as they deal with ALL GOVT Depts as a whole (as in india and other countries, there are separate 'Accounts Services' for different departments like military, railway, provincial, federal but in Pakistan they are all rolled into one service precisely after the civil services reforms of 1973).


From tehsil, district and province to all the federal ministries, PAAS prevails. There are three major subdivisions within PAAS. 1) Civil Accounts (federal & provincial - foreign accounts, customs accounts, provincial accountant generals and federal ones 2) Railway accounts 3) Military accounts - including all three defence forces and defence productions units

The promotion is very fast track.
Home station luxury available.
Horizontal mobility in highest, second only to dmg. PAAS can go virtually everywhere in govt. as everywhere is their play area like LDA, CDA, NADRA, NHA etc.

Current Chairman of Pakistan Steel is from PAAS.
Mr. Ahmed Waqar. the erstwhile federal finance secretary and chairman FBR was from PAAS.
Recent Auditor General of Pak has also been federal finance secretay as well execuive director on WB board.
Around four to five federal secretaries are from PAAS.
PAAS officers are present on the board of CAA alongwith air marshals.

PAAS officers have been Chief Secretaries in Sind including the Current one.
They are and have been provoncial finance secretaries in sind and nwfp (may be in punjab as well but i dont know)

PAAS officers have an edge being Financial Consultants of the GOP as thats their nature of job as compared to dmg who got administrative expertise only.

Due to All Pakistan Unified Grades (APUG) as was done by ZA Bhotto in 1973, gives same promotional and career opportunities to all groups (basically it broke the monopoly of dmg erstwhile csp) . So it all depends on the capabilities of a person to achieve hights of civil services remaining in his/ her own group.

Also the PAAS posts are not that much politically vulnerable so a person can enjoy his/ her stay to the max. Unlike PSP and DMG where entire field officers are changed after stepping in of new govt. PAAS enjoy their positions.

Saifullah Mumak who got the 71st Position in CE-2008 appeard first time in CSS exam. He got the 2nd Position in PMS and presently serving as Deputy District Officer Revenue at Sargodha division. He has got Masters Degree in Persian and bagged the first position.

PMS is the new name of punjab public service comission.It has a chairman and 12 members. PMS exam was held last time in june 2009 for the recruitment of 17 grade. The procedure for the PMS exam has been changed from this time. Like CSS in PMS also, one have to appear in 12 subjects (six Compulsory and the six optional).
PMS also gives and offers lucurativ job plus the perks and priveleges.The posts usually given in PMS are like Tehsildar, DDOR, Supritendent Jail, Exicise and Taxation Officer, Home Department, Civil Judges cum judicial Magistrate and vice versa. So one can say that PMS has matched with the CSS in terms of the examination procedure.
Although there are some posts in the PMS which a CSP form the low cader group may not willing to join due to the authority and privileges he is enjoying.
But the chances of the promotion of the CSP is more than a PMS officer.
