Does anyone know that what responsibilities an "Information Officer" performs while working in the PID Islamabad?

yaar...i believe that information officer in PID is more of a sarkari journalist and writes out articles on events of their posted ministries......and charts out the clippings etc....i believe that u r more resourceful and connected and may b shed some more light on it.

well i have talked to few seniors who have been posted as IOs in PID...they have come up with some positive comments on the job...as per them each IO is given a portfolio of generally two ministries and they have to keep an eye on all the related news being published about those ministries in the local and as well as international media...Moreover IOs have to market their relevant ministries by having closer contacts with the journalists of local and international newspapers and News Channels.

As per them the best part of this job is the working envirnment is really good and one gets a chance to interact with leading anchors and journalists both from local and as well international media.

the IO job is good and creative but for those who r much into reading and have creative writing skills....secondly, it is the kind of posting which enables u to b in touch with the policymakers, print and electronic media....the best thing about this job is that it is chill job....no stress, office job with great PR and exposure....it also has its negative side as well....meaning not much authority like most other groups and not a lot of ppl to boss upon.....overall, the ppl that i have tlkd to r pretty much satisfied with their job.

@red. hawk....
since u have much links....would b kind enough to enlighten us of the perks and privileges of IOs like accomdtion, vehicles, salary and bonuses etc...

IO job isnt an ideal one for the people who have bossy attitude...as far as perks and benefits are concerned, those are almost none. being in Islamabad you will have to arrange your own accommodation coz even officers from DMG and PSP find it really hard to manage a Govt accommodation until they reach upto the BPS-19.
Otherwise everything is possible with reference in Pakistan I know few of the PROs and IOs who are enjoying Govt residence in Federal Lodges and having Govt Vehicle (Cultus) as well. But normally it is not available. One has arrange his own car and accommodation. pay is around PKR 22,980 to start off

Best of luck
