although seniors will be in a better position to answer u
but what i know is that only benefit of past govt service is that u carry your annual increments in pay along with u to csa, meaning that u ll be paid more then new entrants,,, but i dont think it has anything to do with the seniority
lets c what seniors say

Default @ leopard

This question was asked from a senior Bureaucrat of 2nd common (PSP)

His Answer States That: The seniority in service is determined by the CSS marks + Performance at CSA + Performance during STP, then you get the final seniority list which means the real competition of a probationer is with his/her Group/Service mates. As far as the persons are concerned who have been in Govt job previously, the only benefit what they get is that their pay is started with previous increments. No other benefits, previous Govt job experience is nothing to do with one's seniority in list of his/her batch fellows.

I think the above answer is quite explanatory..!!!!

red hawk, all those things plus your performance at the final passing out exam determines your seniority.

Default then what about the retirement????

thanks for the members on highlighting different aspects of making a shift from one government service to another via CSS... but what about retirement>??? suppose a gentleman like me, who has 8 years of service record in BPS 16 & is presently of 29 years of age, how the retirement age will be calculated??? i know about 60 years of age but as far as 25 years of service requirement for retirement is concerned, will my 8 years be counted in those 25 years???

@leopard
though i m not a qualifier but I know in this regard.Deffinetly your service counts if you have gone through the through proper channel to the fp services.In ur case only ur services r transfered to the fed.govt.you have to serve atleast (25-8=17) 17 years more to reach the retirement requirement.
