Thank u kukikhel for useful tips..really appreciate it

Sabeen: Welcome to the forum ..I am following the syllabus strictly...do not miss anything from the syllabus. Also, look at the most repeated questions from the past papers and prepare those topics as well. What I am doing is that I am preparing one subject at a time.

I have made a calender for myself. And marked a deadline for each subject. Like for example: in 15 days I have to complete my Journalism from Nov 1 - Nov 15..and I follow it strictly. If some day I dont feel like studying then next day I study double and make sure I complete my subject on deadline. This way you will study more in less time

ratta is not always a good thing. Try to remember the main concept for each topic. Read the topic 3 -4 times so that you can understand it well and then highlight the main points and remember those. And then when the question come regarding that topic - by then you will remember the concept and just expand it with your own thinking.

Ishikawa Fish bone diagram is the best way to memorize (search it on google)..... its not ratta but a quick glance of wat u have memorized or read.

My sister who qualified written this year appplied the technique of teaching/combined study on me along with ishikawa..... so find someone whom u can study with..... frankly wat u learn from discussion is really easy to retain.... try it.
her efforts worked well for me ina way that i cudnt made it in General knowledge only but all others i passed with gud marks without even studying 6 or 10 hours a day......

Thank u Sana for such a lovely advice.

But the problem is that we dont have enough time to find a partner and study also, at this time we cannot depend on anyone. You had a sister thats why it was easy for you . By the way are you re-apperaing for 2010?

I can't believe that some people are suggesting that one should follow the route of rote learning...it might work for a few but trust me..it won't take u far...i have cleared the exam once...got allocated as well but didn't join coz i was pursuing a degree abroad...now i am planning to take the exam again...n hopefully will start studying in a month's time...but i didn't resort to rote learning last time and don't plan to start now...still to each his own..

i have startet preperation in nov and but i was thinking about 4m a couple of years...
i have done with journalism n now on IR and islamic history... just making notes on evry topic.. on some topics i have just made points... it is v v important dat one should make his own notes or points...
so faaar i hvnt seen any porblem..
i m a journalist and working with a think tank... i hv met many officers who done gud in exams...
i also met many times with Aitzaz ahsan a well know politition, css topppper.. da perception dat i hv develpd so faar is tht it is da examination of testing ur mental capabilities and playing with nerves... many students cud not get thru coz they just read buks and do tha ratta... its all about ur perception and ofcourse, opinion... its not about memorizing from buks but how u see the things going around u every u...
its about writing but writing differently.. narrating ur v own point of view in the smartest way

Ur absolutely ri8. its all about understanding and metal capabilities and it u urself who is a better judge while preparing for the exam. One should follow the way in which he/she is comfertable and knows that will retain the information. Quality narration of ideas is all that matters
