Passing score for a compulsory paper of 100 marks is 40. G.K is considered one subject consisting of three papers; EDS, Pakistan Affairs and Current Affairs. One needs to have atleast 120 marks combined in all three papers to qualify. Even if score in any of three papers is less than 40 but aggregate of all three is 120 or more, one is considered to have passed the subject.

Just received my DMS for CSS 2012

Written: 758 (EDS 83, Islamiat 68, Accounting 156)
Viva: 0 (Fail)

Really Happy about my written score as I scored 690 in written in 2011 on which basis i secured 27th position in Pakistan and got allocated in DMG/PAS

PS: 0 in interview because I didn't appear!

Actually it is not 40/100 out of each paper.... 3 subjects marks are added and 120 is required.

EDS+C.A+P.A = 120 ( combined passing marks)

e.g EDS+C.A+P.A = ( 20 + 30 + 70 = 120) will be considered pass General Knowledge Papers combinely.......

app ki allocation kesy ho sakti hai agr app ny viva ni diya?

He cleared CSS in 2011 and allocated in DMG. He also appeared in written exam of CE 2012 but didn't appear in Viva.

Well, I believe you would have been amongst top 5 had you taken the Viva . Awesome written scores. And you prepped 15 days if I am not wrong .
