My preparation plan in CSS 2012 prepared in 18 days....

Prepared CSS 2012 in 18 days with other limitations. To make matters worse, I had to receive calls from my bank and moreover, due to problem in Computer, could not access CSS Forum after 1st 7 days. But still, luck favoured and secured Merit # 131 by the Grace of Allah Almighty.

Now, preparation strategy:

1 day of mine stands for 8-10 hours with 1.5 hours break for meal, playing with my daughter etc.

1. Focused more on subject which can give more marks. Such as in compulsories, I gave 3 full days to EDS and 1 full day to Composition. [4 days]

2. Gave 1 full day to Essay and prepared only Energy Crisis. Gathered all facts and figures on the internet.

3. Gave a half day to Pak Affairs and 1.5 to Islamiyat. [2 days]

4. Gave full 4 days to Current Affairs (which still hurts as the paper came totally unexpected and I knew only 1.5 questions out of 4 :hurt)

Now towards optionals

1. Gave 2 full days to Geography Paper I and 1 day to Paper II.

2. 1 full day to Forestry

3. 1 full day to Statistics.

4. 1 full day to Journalism

One full day for the purchasing of books and other related material.

Most of the books that I bought contained errors and became a terrible headache for me, so it became a nightmare for me to prepare through them. Thanks to the internet I managed to correct a few critical mistakes and go on.

Please note that these 18 days include only those before the start of Exam. It does include the 15 days of Exams, which gave me additional time to prepare in case of Off days. For Instance I had almost 3 days off in Business Admin so prepared the entire subject in that. Moreover, I got 2 additional day offs in Forestry so continued my preparation in that

Moreover, I did not read the entire books. I went with selective study. I studied few topics thoroughly, gave other important topics a mere glance and left a few altogether :haha.

Baaqi, as I said CSS is heavily dependent on luck, so my belief in this statement got strengthened with the outcome.

But in case of Viva, I did prepare for more than a week regarding various Current issues and their facts. However, I met a domestic tragedy a day before my Viva but thanks to Allah Almighty, all is well that ends well :)).

One more thing, I was never afraid of failing in CSS 2012. Despite I knew it was not, I still forced myself to look upon CSS 2012 written as just another exam in my life and had committed with myself not to let this fear of failure overcome my preparation time.

Only 69 days were left and i was still to decide my optional subjects. Moreover i had 9 hrs regular job while going for the css 2012. I startef the preparation and for the first 50-60 days i could spend only 3-4 hrs a day. In these days i just contented with data gathering and book reading. I did the following:
1) read the book of ikram rabbani for pak affaits 02 readings
2) 8-10 topics for essay(though never practiced writing)
3) for sociology gave 02 readings to Taga book
4) for eds read the book of kashmiri 2-3 times plus past papers
5) for urdu read Urdu general by Jahangir's 02 times
6) did not bother even going thru the syllabus of accounting. Prepared everything in 4 days which i got during exams.
7) didnt have reading material for current affairs so just contended with few artivles that were there on css forum.
8) for journism i went thru the book of mufti twice
9) read the headings and tried to memorize some verses and Ahadees from Ilmi's book. Devoted one full day to this subject a couple of days before exams.

Thats all.....went for exam and by just Allah's blessing got 720 marks in written. Viva ruined mr and i got 163. Now at 118 in the merit....
My advice to all the aspirants is that plz take css as an exam, keep your nerves in control anf leave everything to Allah. I shall always be thankful to Almighty for everything that i achoeved. My good reading skill did wonders for me.

English essay!!!

@aminshah & parcorian

English essay paper is cosidered as a difficult paper. Many candidates flunk in this paper every year. How did you prepare this subject in a very short span of time and what kind of tenchniques you applied to get through this paper?

Dear writing an essay is not a science. I just followed the
Guidelines from seniors.
First: try to be as simple as you can, avoid using loaded sentenses and quotes
2nd: your essay should be a coherent, dont beat about the bush, just stick to the points
3rd: while preparing the essay dont try to memorize paragraphs. Try to write in your own words.

Thats it. Stay blessed

Essay Analysis in my opinion.

Well, I believe Essay should contain these:

1. Attractive intro
2. Good expression and cohesion
3. Accurate Grammar and Spelling.

For factual/problem statement type Essays, you can divide it into five major parts:

1. Intro
2. Causes
3. Effects
4. Remedial Measures
5. Conclusion.

Please make sure that a sequence of expressions remain intact.

Another one helped by God

Took a month off from the bank. Prepared and took exams in those 30 days. Though I was almost a regular reader of dawn news paper and kept in touch with informative talk shows on TV. This had helped me to frame opinions and develop a view point on national and international issues.
I had a reasonable command on English and had experience of writing policies for the bank.

Prepared and practiced only one topic for the essay that too on last night before the exam. Luckily the same topic was first on the paper i.e. Energy Crises. I had found 2 relevant and striking quotes for the issue. My introduction was attractive and was a concise summary of what was coming on later in the essay. Since, I had not practiced time management, just when 10 minutes were left, I realized that neither have I written the outline nor am close to writing a conclusion. In complete haste, I wrote outline in 7 minutes and conclusion in 3 minutes. I thought I would not pass, but by grace of Almighty I managed to get passing marks.

I completely endorse aminshah's essay analysis. You have to push the reader to read your entire essay and keep him interested. Each sentence should be relevant and have some contribution in the essay.
