I agree cogito. I didn't attempt a very good essay in 2014 and i passed. ( i wish they had failed me so that I would have been more concerned about it while preparing for 2015) i scored 65 in precis this time, although i was so worried that they would fail me in precis because i did my precis in the last ten mins and that too incomplete. ( with possible mistakes). In my opinion, they pass the Best attempted papers ( when they target a specific subject). This is why, I failed. Becauae, my essay was better than many, but not the best. This is what happened last year with precis too. ( i did not fail it, because i know my paper was one of the best last year according to their criteria)

it was my second attempt,obviously disappointed but still satisfied because it was a game of luck instead of a touchstone of ingenuity.

i attempted the essay ;if life throws you lemon,make lemonade but unfortunately my cullinary skills wern't good enough.

I think that's why you didn't succeed. Lemonade is a beverage art that you mis-took for culinary...just one man's opinion (^_^)
Unless ofcouse you cook your lemonade in which case you are right all the way! boo the essay checkeer!! (^_^)
