Are we supposed to secure 40% marks in each paper of GK this year?

is there any announcement regarding amendment in this rule?

yes dear ! this was announced prior to the commencement of CSS 2014 exams and it will continue in the next exams also.

this is the main confusion faced by all the aspirants of css coz in its rules, at the time of advertisement, fpsc did not mention this rule rather in the document of rules and passing marks, all the the gk subjects were mentioned carrying 300 marks.

dear it was clearly mentioned in syllabi and it was much discussed in cssforum also.

Any reference please? I dont have any such info even in 2015 rules no such thing.

Please provide source and details.

I dont think there has been any amendment. GK is one paper consisting of three sub sections and 120 marks are what is required to pass i.e. 40%.

Can you quote the rules for 2013 AND 2014 with respect to this specific point?

(QUALIFYING MARKS IN WRITTEN EXAMINATION
8. (i). A candidate who fails to secure at least 40% marks in any of
the compulsory subjects, 33% marks in any of the optional subjects,
50% marks in the Aggregate will be considered to have failed in
written examination and will not be eligible for medical
examination, Psychological Assessment and Viva Voce.
(ii). Only the candidates declared qualified for written examination
and found eligible will be called for next stage i.e. Medical
Examination, Psychological Assessment and Viva Voce.

I agree but the rules for CE-2014 were the same as CE-15.

Can you quote what the same section of the rule was for CE-13?

Roshnain Swati Thursday, July 24, 2014 11:23 PM

For 2012- The rule read

The Commission with prior approval of the
Government may fix qualifying marks in any or all of the
subjects of the examination but a candidate who fails to secure at
least 40% marks in any compulsory subject, 33% marks in any of
the optional subjects, or 50% marks in the Aggregate and 100
marks at the Viva Voce, will be considered to have failed and will
not be eligible for appointment.

For 2015 the rule reads

Can anyone tell how comes the 120 aggregate thing doesn't apply to CE-15 ?

Word subject is written in rules not paper. As per ce syllabus GK is one subject of 300 marks having 3 papers. As psychology is one subject of 200 marks having 2 papers. So 40% in subject are required and not in each paper.
