From my very own experience I have inferred that if you work hard you shall find yourself at home....As people often try to make an impression that one need to be scholar to ace it , there is nothing as such , work hard , prepare syllabus and pray hard

I have similar views.. Some things are hard but with good and smart preparation, they can be covered nicely..

Every subject has its own nature and its own demands and then in every subject's paper, every question has its own requirements. Some questions ask for bullet points like answers, some want long paragraphs of critical analysis, some want diagrams and explanation, some want only common sense, etc etc.. The main thing is to do justice with the question.

True, the exam is very very hectic and really tests you mentally and physically, but if you look at it, it's fun and a very good experience.

Keep it genuine. This exam is not that easy, instead very peculiar to other exams. The awareness and consequences are known to many now. People have been acquainted of the requirement of this exam and competition is increasing every year. For me, 2015 was my first experience, and many of my perceptions have been rectified after taking papers. Keeping in view the scant ratio of pass percentage, one needs to be very creative, smart, assiduous and different from others.

Been There, Done That

My journey of CSS has been fraught with bitter realizations. Though I was already aware (told by seniors who have cleared and are sitting CSPs) that this exam is a combination of three things, namely (i)Luck (ii)Ratta and (iii)English writing skills; I got to experience this myself firsthand. I have appeared twice (2013, 2015), and this realization has grown even stronger after CE-2015.

Sadly, there is no other way to make one's way into the civil service; so I had to lower my standards and sit in such an idiotic exam. (Note: I am calling the exam idiotic, not those who appear in it. Pakistan has talent, but the correct way of channelizing and grooming it is non-existent).

Brother,You should better know what you did in those papers that you have recently attempted. Its a matter of luck. The way you posted your statement on this form now it looks like you have done all your papers worst and there is no chance of what you did in CE 2015.I have also attempted for second and last time because of over age for CE-2016.So,don't dishurt yourself.Trust in GOD.

CSS by no means tests the real intelligence and leadership skills in a person. Sorry to say but it has to be renamed as "English competency test". Students from Urdu medium government schools and backward areas find it very tough to clear English papers. Like PMS exams, a paper of our national language Urdu should also be included. At the end of the day people who cover whole of the course and can write good English succeed.

from my experience i can say it is really an easy exam ..exams that i had appeared in NUST entrance test , and those of FSC papers of Federal board , then i have appeared in various job tests, including FPSC drilling engineer test ,atomic energy commission tests, all were very difficult .
80% course was of matric and FSC level.
Even English Precis papers was not much difficult ,if we look at FSC level english paper it is also of the same level of difficulty.
Essay is the game of luck ..if it comes from the topic you have practiced you can easily handle it. Rest of all papers were very easy .if some one really work hard ,he can surely do that.

CSS is Luck: This statement itself proves that the exam system of CSS is flawed. In exams, there is no such thing as luck. IF you prepare well and write accordingly, you should pass. In all prominent universities of the world, the exam pattern is subjective and in spite of the fact that the enrolment is high, every student gets the marks in accordance with the preparation. Even in Matric and FSC papers, the element of luck is not that substantial.

Moreover, papers of islamiat and Pakistan affairs should be attempted in Urdu because a majority of the public schools are urdu medium. The paper of urdu and urdu adab should also be compulsory. It is such a shame that even competent aspirants (the ones with passion, knowledge and relevant talent) cannot manage to pass CSS because of the ‘English factor’. And the ones that do had to get themselves robbed by the coaching academies and highly paid tutors.

Nevertheless, it is a fact that FPSC is a transparent recruitment organization of Pakistan when one compares it with the corrupt provincial recruitment services.

English is very very important especially in this new globalised world. Citizens of countries who are not good in English are suffering a lot and they wish they had good english education. It is the most known and used international language that breaks many barriers. I've lived in an international student environment and I have experienced this first hand. With the passage of time, the importance of English and Science is increasing tremendously, we cannot stay behind in an extremely fast and competitive world, I am reminded of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan now..
