I would recommend that you should use multiple resources for the preparation of EDS paper. Try to get soft copies of books recommended by the FPSC for the said subject. Also, consider using the Internet to make your own notes. That's what I would suggest you should do, based on my own experience.

Well, it was my 2nd attempt, the 1st one being in 2013 at which I failed miserably (Essay, Pak Affairs and Current Affairs). This time, I was much determined to pass it but just a month before the commencement of exams that is on Jan 16th, I encountered a very serious (a personal one) tragedy in my life (though at some stage later in life, it won't sound as serious as it is being right now because time is the biggest ointment and heals the biggest possible wound as well) and I was completely shattered and lost all my focus and the car of my preparation which was in the extreme gear, shifted back not just to the normal but in reverse one. I used to sit on the study table trying to study but every time ended up in discouragement, disappointment and ...

And there came the Feb 18th, 2016. I reached the centre at 09: 05 AM, the last one to enter the examination hall because it was the first paper of CSS and it is advised to reach before time so you can calm your energies and anxieties and blah blah. Though, I also believe in all this but as I had not hope left in passing this attempt so I was not interested at all.

So, I was saying that I reached centre 5 mins late and withdrew the necessary stationery out of my bag, calmly started drinking water and the invigilator was looking at me and he told me in a loud and insulting manner to hurry up as it was he who is going to fail the exams. And there I entered the hall and sit at my place. Looked at the list of topics of Essay to be attempted and chose one, that was "We have to learn to be our own best friends, because we fall too easily into the trap of being our own worst enemies."

Within an hour, I was writing essay so good that all the pain of my tragedy started waning up and I really started thinking that now I have to pass all the papers of this attempt because Essay was one of the paper in which I had failed in my previous attempt and this is the only paper in which more than 90% candidates fail. So, I was able to write a good essay and finished it properly. After that paper finished, I thought that now I would leave no stone unturned to pass every single paper and utilize whatever I had learnt until the Jan 16th. And with this thought in mind, I left the centre to collect the passports of my mum and bro from the passport office and parked my bike into "No Parking". When I returned after collecting the passports after 5 mins, my bike was not over there, and I was feeling hunger a lot and left only Rs. 100 in my pocket. I asked the nearby standing traffic sergeant about the picked up bikes by traffic police and he told me to go to specific place to collect my bike after the payment of challan. I had no option other than to walk to the office of traffic police and I found my bike parked over there, the challan worth was Rs. 200/-. So, I negotiated with the loaders and bribed them with Rs. 100 to get my bike released (Yes, I know, it is a criminal, ethical and last but not the least an Islamic offense and I ask Allah Almighty, the most beneficent and merciful to forgive me).

I took my bike and went to Masjid, offered Zuhr and then left for the centre empty belly to attempt the Precis and Composition paper. It went well and the next 3 papers also went well until the paper of Islamiat at which I felt that I am not going to pass. But the situation was fifty fifty. Now started were the optional papers, Accounts and Auditing awesome, but then came the Journalism, US History, Mercantile Law and Forestry and Agriculture, these papers ruined my hopes of passing the CSS in this attempt. And it is fair as well because why should a candidate deserve to pass with abysmal preparation. Though, Luck favored me in all Compulsory papers except Islamiat and half of the Optional Papers but Luck alone cannot drag one to the success, specifically in CSS.

And I am of the view that every candidate know about his or her fate whether s/he will pass or fail as soon as s/he leaves the examination hall. Result announcement is just a formality, result is already known to everyone once the exams are finished. So far, my physical condition is concerned during those exams, it was very bad because of sleepless nights and try to cover the whole subjects in few hours. What a fool I was!

But, let me admit, papers this time were very easy, all belong to past papers. But no regrets, I am going to attempt CSS in 2017 with all new spirit and aiming to pass this time. Wish me luck!

Thanks and Yours Sincerely.
