islamiat from islami nazriya e hayat by professor khurshid ahmed, islamiat by hafeeza banilo butt and google
pak affairs... for pre-partition o-lvls book... a post about reformers in css forum. and for post partition i got a timeline of events and then google the important ones... then pakistans relations with neighbours n major countries along with histories from sir farid khan s lectures... he has published a book too so i guess that will have same stuff as lectures. and rest is current affairs

Hazelnut congratulations on your success. I have same combination of subjects for CE-2018 coming attempt except sociology as I am taking psychology instead. You have excellent marks in almost all subjects except IR paper and CA. I and other candidates will highly appreciate if you do a detailed post about how you cracked CSS and share with us all the books, notes and sources which you have used in your preparation along with your valuable tips.
Thank you.

Hazelnut have excellent marks in IR, 78 and 39!!! No one scored well in paper 2, except 2-3 people. Even current affairs marks are good. @hazelnut yes please do tell us how you cracked css. Despite uncertainity of syllabus change, you did an outstanding task. Bravo

Thank you both About ir 2 the paper was comparatively tough and unexpected, may be thats the reason candidates including me could not perform very well. But the burden of low score also lies on my shoulder as well undoubtedly. In my opinion, i failed to attempt it as an ir paper, instead i attempted ut as current affairs paper. no referencea to theories, no ir terminologies. so heres your first tip attempt ir paper as ir paper not current affairs paper

Now how to crack css in my opinion
First of all... learn to write paragraphs...write one paragraph daily no matter what and try to get it checked on weekly basis from an english teacher. with time you will notice yourself your improvement.Once you have learnt paragraph, start learning introduction and conclusion writing
Work on precis, you will need an english teacher to check this one too
while paragraph writing, try to learn new words conjunctions idioms phrasal verbs and try to incorporate in your writing... (but when you are writing in exam dont forcefully insert words etc )
Second area after english to work is current affairs... i joined an academy and took lectures from a journalist...hes a remarkable teacher... i suggest following dawn paper, diplomat, jwt magazine and reading editorials... editorials helps in english and analysis...develop interest in current affaurs, watch news and broaden your horizon...try to write notes on ongoing topics say kalboshan case
For mcqs of each subject, i did mcqs of past papers since 2000
rest optionals and eds and isl... i gave 15 to 20 days to each... books are different for each and in fact there were no books for new syllabus so google was my best friend... i have mentioned books in different posts.. if anyone wants she/he can ask again
i tried to sum up.... hope it helps...best of luck
