Anyone from Acca background planning to appear for 2019 exams?

Yes, I have qualified as a CA from the ICAEW and am intending on sitting the 2019 CSS exams. Optional Subjects I have selected keeping in mind the subject knowledge I already hold from my ACA is as follows:

1- Accounts and Auditing
2- Business Admin
3- Criminology/ Mercantile Law
4-US History
5- Gender Studies

Have you selected your subjects?

Hi,
Can anyone suggest me whether I should opt for ACCA or CA?
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering but want to switch to Accountancy.
Why? Because this field apparently has some jobs in this country. And also thends to pay better in the longer run.

Anyways, if possible, please evaluate the two (2) options in terms of scope, cost, time to completion.

Thanks.

As an electrical engineer, who also got mba from one of the top business schools in pakistan: I can appreciate your plan, as in my experience C.As still somehow manage to secure very very good lucrative jobs in Pakistan (which i can tell you as a seriously unemployed person that this is very rare for any profession in our country to be called lucrative and well-paying)
I can tell you this: Accounting it self is quite dry, I don’t know about auditing portion in Acca or C.A
My knowledge in accounting is limited to my courses of financial accounting and managerial accounting in mba
But i would still rate studying accounting as a far far better option than engineering (because studying 4 years in engineering university is not leading to any jobs right now)
Other members are welcomed to share their critque or dissenting opinions :)

Bad Idea.

Job market in Pakistan is saturated in almost every sphere be it engineering, medical , business or other fields. Besides , you have already invested four years of your life in pursuing an engineering degree. Switching to altogether a different filed will make you a rolling stone.

In my view , you can consider option of pursuing MBA which complements yours engineering degree. Rest is your choice.

My experience is alittle different:
Mba does not complements engineering in any way.
I have seen people from Lums waiting months to secure job, and eventually joining 2nd or 3rd grade mediocre firms out of desperation

Yes what you are saying would be true a good 10 years back, i know people back then completed mba after engineering and got extremely lucrative salaries

But this is 2018 unfortunately not the mid-to-late 2000s when every mba and engineer could get a job easily, that too a very good one

Btw I am just telling you which as of 8th april 2018: i wish someone had told me 4-5 years back
Today everyone, literally every engineer wants to pursue an Mba degree with assumption of mba opening doors to jobs’ heaven
Sadly, i went this same path around 4-5 years back
Hence i shudder to think someone else committing same blunder as me.

But if economy of pakistan improves remarkably in coming years than their will be an abundance of job in future for both engineers and mba. So I am optimistic that coming days, weeks, years will be very bright for us :)
