Why you want to join this job??

Seniors please guide me regarding the answer of this particular question in interview. Every time we do apply for a job, interviewer asks " why you want to do this job??"

For example I recently appeared for assistant S& GAD and I am an engineering graduate, the interviewer started grilling me on this question.

The best answer from my side could be that I want this job because I am jobless ( it is reality for engineers),But I avoided this answer because it gives a negative impression.

I couldn't give a satisfactory answer.

what should be the answer to this question ??

As far as my understanding and experience is concerned, I have always tried to relate my personal strengths with the job description.
Moreover, the other high grounds such as service to community/humanity etc - depending upon the job nature- might be taken.
