Thumbs up How to give an effective Interview...!

What is an interview?
Just think…a communication… an interaction of two or more people… an exchange of ideas.

What is it’s Objective?
To locate the strengths and weaknesses of the interviewee.
While for the interviewee, it may be to impress the interviewer!
A process of exploration…of probe…to be able to take a decision.
( I think after reading 2.6, I have added it’s language in my expression! But then, learning never stops…)

Why is a person interviewed ?

To assess :
Skills and Knowledge of the applicant.
Future goals of the applicant…whether they are in line with the organizations
What benefits can the applicant bring to the organization
Suitability for the job.

What should the candidate do?
Hide his / her weakness … even if the weakness is that of lying! ( L )
Tell employer that you are the Most Suitable person for the organization! (J)
just consider yourself as a Product! Spell it’s characteristics in the most suitable manner to ascend from the rest of the candidates. Self – market and self- project yourself.

What can be the starting Topics of discussion in an interview? Why do you wish to join this organization?
Why do you want to leave your current job?
Tell us about yourself!
Think about all possibilities (regarding queries) beforehand and play well with the chosen words on time. How to do this? Well, find all the information you can on the organization like for instance : size of the organization; no. of employees; history ; major competitors; environment; relationship between the staff members; going concern; job description.
Things you must do :
1-Mock (don’t worry! It’s not the mock exam most of us don’t bother to sit for! :p It means practice!)
2-Prepare your Port Folio
3-Video tape yourself, to check your tone, gestures, manner of speaking/speech, your expression.

Tips to be successful in an Interview
1. Go in early than time
2. First impression … personality
3. First 5 minutes are critical
4. Appearance… dressing, grooming, smile, enthusiasm matters!
5. Take lead in greeting confidently.
6. Sit comfortably but do not slouch! Keep your posture straight.
7. Take brown or black leather portfolio with extra copies of resume and transcripts
8. Practice your speech beforehand; it should be clear and not composed of mumbles or stammering!
9. Illustrate your qualities in the conversation.
10. Keep eye contact with your interviewer. Give a confident facial expression.
11. Try to get to know the business, the interviewer and their demand beforehand to prepare yourself for your best performance.

Don’ts
Do not initiate salary discussion
Do not wear excessive make up or jewelry
Do not keep your pockets bulging with things
Do not wear tie and socks un-matched with suiting
Do not get or reveal nervousness
Do not get “defensive” or over confident.

Interview concerns
Your interview responses are measured on 2 factors:
1-Content… which depends on the type of the interview
2-Style… which will be delivered by your mannerism

Content

Traditional interview:
Have thorough knowledge about the organization, the job requirements, the interviewer, every thing that would facilitate your success!

Serial interview:
Prepare each phase of this type of interview as if each one is an independent interview. Be precise in answering as serial interviews focus on your skill, perception and response inviting them to what you are really capable of!

Panel interview:
Prepare yourself psychologically for this type as a panel means each person will probe you for each main constituent of your personality…mental attitudes, psychological analysis, estimation of your aspirations and direction towards life. (Attention will also be given to what ticks you!)

Stress interview:
May seem strange but there are aggressive interview sessions as well that mainly focus on how much stress you can handle. (Obviously it must be the major requirement of the designation.)

Case Method interview:
You can also be asked to develop a strategy for a particular problematic situation, that will be conducted on the basis of STAR.

Situation _ will be provided or even asked to create
Task _ pick the problem so you can be judged on how you handle it later
Approach _ determines your course of action
Results _ out of all strategy alternatives , which one revealed what results

Conclusion:
If interested in the job, convey it in good closing remarks. Request for a business card or e-mail for further enquiries and thank interviewer/s for his/her/their time.

@maiji

Dear you have posted a good post, but its very badly edited, which is spoiling all its signifance, and imparting unpleasant effect in the first sight.

Kindly Pre-view the post before posting it, so that it might become easy to comprehend and grasp the essence...And try to highlight/bold the headings and main points...

For the time being I will edit, but be careful next time...

Note:Moreover the thread will be moved to Interviews and Psychological tests Forum...

well dears, i fully disagree with my mate maijie.
most of the people do nt perform well in interview just because of the fact that they are so much mentally absorbed with these tips that they start performing in unusual manners.my interview was the shortest one just 15min nd i got excellent marks.keep in touch

Well Mr.Sandhu, you are right also but let me tell you one thing. All these things
should be implemented as a part of your personality but not the interview material. The logics and constraints provided in this post reflects your posture and personality but not what u have learned or anything else. you can say that all these constraints are a plus point to your Interview, but definitely if these things effects your concentration, you have gotten hesitations and lack of confidence.
