dont prepare the optionals as yet, wait for the new chairman's appointment and follow the style of interview as will be introduced by him... many times interview panel does not bother about optionals... although RBD was always very keen to delve into the optionals

My advice to you is to be prepared for every thing. And it is based on my personal experience. Last time I made assumption based on the experience of others that Rana Sahb won't ask questions on English Literature in which I have my Maters. But it proved fatal for me. I was the person who was asked scores of questions on literature while I was not prepared. And it proved to be my Achilles Heal. So do not leave a single thing which can prove to be a repentance later on.
As well as optional subjects are concerned they definitely should be prepared.

Brother first of all sorry for a delayed response. Brother last year Rana Sahb used to read few very famous Ayyats or Ahadeeths and would ask the aspirants to translate them in English. He did this with all aspirants who had Arabic. One of the Ayats was ,
Hal Jzaa ul Ehsan Ill Lal Ehsan ?
One of them was
Wa Kun Tum Shufa Hufraa Tin.................
( Allah Maaf Farmain zer zabr ki glti hoi ho tu ) Amen.
