Interviews on the first day were easy going , almost all of the 11 candidates said so . I felt that too , but considering the experiences of candidates appearing now , the panel has increased the intensity .

Yes, this is what mostly happens. Perhaps the panel members get tired of conducting vivas of a huge number of candidates.

What if they have got tired, It's their duty to conduct the interviews wisely. without making outbursts for their personal sufferings. As the candidates also proceed through such long year preparation, anxieties, frustration, isolation and depression.

Dear they are very experienced and expert. They know how to take interview. By being tired, it means that they don't want to repeat same question that are already being asked

Plus, every candidate bears different story (background, optionals etc)

My interview story:
In my center, i was the last one to go in front of the panel. The panel greeted me very cordially and later grilled me for almost half an hour.
Chairman sb started with, so you are an engineer.
He asked why did I want to switch over to another career, questions about my current job, engineering scope and what attracted me to CSS.
He further asked the reason of moral decline in our society.
I had mentioned internet while replying to moral decline question, some more discussion on internet like how do I use internet etc.
I was also asked about GSP plus… Pakistan scope in EU .
Did I know about ICJ. Working of ICJ (I dropped this part of question)
-
then it was Mr. Mansoor ‘s turn to question me.
He asked me about UN, Pakistan’s role in UN, India in UN, how UN has been useful to Pakistan. UN was a success or failure. ( Here while replying I commented UN was extension of US state deptt, my comment brought a huge smile on his face, but he said it was v controversial statement and asked me further why I had this perception) .
He asked me about famous civil engineers (as am a civil engr). I mentioned osama bin laden, ahmaedi nijad, yasir Arafat and Herbert hoover. Here Chairman sb chipped in and said “are we seeing another leader in front of us” . All the panelists laughed at this. Anyhow, Mansoor sb asked about osama bin laden. I replied he was dead, a closed chapter, why should we talk about him. Then he said ok then talk about his legacy i.e Al qaeda.
He asked me about the 9/11 incident, how Pakistan was pulled into this WOT? Has Pakistan been successful, is it our war etc. it was a long discussion. Umm he also asked me qualities of leader and out of four mentioned civil engrs cum leaders, which one was my fav. He also asked Ahmadi ijad was a hardliner, did his policies benefit Iran.
Nature of relations b/w Pakistan and USA.
How can we curb extremism from our society.
-
After him, Ma’am started questioning me
. She asked my about my current job, what kind of hardships do I have to face. Do I face gender discrimination… How do I manage that. Is my family supportive etc.
She asked the similarity b/w malala and mukhatara mai incident. Condition of women in south Punjab.
Media role in shaping our opinion. Reason of so many news channels. ( I said media and news channel had become a business because we were news hungry nation, at this all laughed and ma’am said yes it’s a good business)
She asked me about foreign services, if I get into foreign services how would I contribute, is foreign service a good option for females. I had said that more women should come into foreign service so that the world know we are a moderate & liberal country and in our country women rights violation news are though not unfounded but largely exaggerated. She said in her opinion women were not free and independent in our society, to which I replied things hv improved and theres room for more. She asked me what made me think things were improved, I told her some women right laws. It was a kind of discussion.
She also asked me how did I prepare for css. And how did I make my group choices. I told her I had discussed my groups. She asked me why I had put first four groups as the way they were.
-
In the last it was Mr. wajid rana.
He started with my optionals. (Islamic history, sociology, forestry and psychology)
Asked about ottoman administrative reforms, mutasim billa era, fatmid dynasty. (I dropped all these three).
From sociology, Marxist theories, hegel dialect , are these theories relevant today, relevant in our society. sicial problems of our society.
He asked about US Indo nexus.
Pak indo relations. How can they be improved. Some discussion on that. (I replied Kashmir issue be resolved first if we really want to improve relations. He asked me till Kashmir issue is sorted out, theres no hope for good relations…. I told him we could try but Kashmir issue first)
Pakistan saudia iran trio, its implications . (I said the trio could be beneficial for all three. Wajid sb said hows that possible despite deep rooted hatred b/w saudia and iran. I told him how, but he didn’t seem convinced)
He further asked abt foreign policy flaws. (here I said being india centric was not a flaw, he said it was, we had lil discussion on that point)
I couldn’t comprehend a question by Mr. wajid. It was a long statement regarding tax reforms/system of Pakistan.
And finally the interview was over.
I thanked all of them and left. I forgot to say good bye in the last.

well i guess most of the lot this time around is either insecure , apprehensive or really competitive. what ever is keeping them from sharing experiences is quite understandable considering the situation. and No one has the right to complain about it. Surely most of the people will share once the interviews are over !! No need to kill the competitive spirit !!
