@ Irfi.

The mood of psychologists was very friendly and cooperative. I would post other command tasks soon. Personalities and books were not discussed on that day, at least with 3 ppl i know. As far as group preferences are concerned, they do ask abt it. Why you have opted for this or that group.

Thank you ShallowWater for this information. However following questions are still buzzing n my mind and would be a pleasure if you answer them:
1. Did your favourite books, personalities, or strengths/ weaknesses came under iscussion during the psychologists interview?
2. How tests and interview of other candidates were conducted?
3. What were command tasks of other candidates? How did they do them?
4. Was any one of them failed to do the command task in time?
5. How was atmosphere of group discussion in other groups?

my psychological on the 30th....

My experience of Psychological test:

Day 1. December 30, 2009

we were supposed to reach the FPSC office half an hour before the reporting time which happened to be 7:45.

Firstly they collected our original documents, and then we were asked to go to the examination hall.

Firstly we were given a bio-data form in which we had to enter information about our family, academic career, educational career our optional subjects, employment and family status. Moreover we could change our preferences, calculate our age to that particular day. We had to jot down two references also whom we considered could give them valuable insights about our personality.

Then there was a test of 70 questions which had to be solved in 30 minutes. It included verbal plus arithmetic portion. The arithmetic sequences being slightly tricky. A pretty dry test I would say:sleeping.

Next we were handed over a test in which there were different patterns in which 1 pattern missing was to be identified, this was easier and more interesting then the first one. 36 questions were to be completed in 30 minutes.

Then there was a test of analytical reasoning. You had to deduce a solution from a given sets of conditions for a problem mentioned. After this there was a 10 minutes break.

Then we had a break for 10 minutes….

Next there was a test of personality traits. We had to answer 185 questions in 30 minutes time. The questions had to be answered in the ALLOTED time; it was a simple true false kind of a test about your personality in which you had to respond freely as you saw yourself:huh:.

Moving on there was a test of questions (the number has skipped ma mind) in which we were asked to write down our activities in free time, 2 favorite books, 2 favorite personalities and reasons for liking those particular books and personalities, suggest measures for FPSC to improve the procedure, our personality traits, long term and short term benefits of the recent governments’ reforms, Strengths and weaknesses of our parents, 1 decision that we took independently and which proved beneficial, what items in life do we see with us in the coming future etc . Moreover there was also a question on what can we do to prevent inflation in our country.

Then we were given a good 15-20 minutes break…..

After the break there was a test of sentence completion. 36 sentences had to be completed in 8 minutes… the sentences included sentences like; in childhood my biggest fear was of…..My mother asks questions……..I would reconsider my relations with……..His father says he……..Breaking rules is permissible……..e.t.c

Next we had to write an autobiography in 8 minutes. We could write it in Urdu or English. Yet they carefully advised us time and again to be precise.

Last we had to write three picture stories in 15 minutes. There were 3 different pictures; the pictures were blurred:oo and it took some imagination to point out the details of the story and then jot it down in form of a story. We could write it in Urdu or English.

This marked the end of Day 1.

Day 2. December 31st, 2009.

We were called at 8:45. Initially we were sent to the waiting room. At around 9:10 we were sent to the group discussion room. We were allotted seat numbers according to our roll numbers from 1 to 8.

The topic for discussion in urdu was something like " Ilakai aur kaumi zuban mei taleem humaray mayar-e-taleem ko behtr bana skti hai" and that for English went something like “Pakistan didn’t asses the cost it had to pay for global war on terror”.
The discussion was of 10 minutes each.

After this came the command task. We were handed over files which contained a piece of paper as well. In 15 minutes we had to write the suggestions about the problem.

My task was that a special committee has been formed for suggesting long term and short term solutions to curb institutional violence. Call a meeting to discuss this issue quoting an example of a Vice principal being murdered as an outcome of firing by three men while he sat and worked in his office……It didn’t turned out as I had expected it because I exceeded my time by a minute:vangry

Other command tasks included problems related to tax evasion, oversees remittances acquisition, road building on western side of Pakistan where the people stand divided on the issue of building or not building, one task was related to our foreign office about china and India agreeing to cooperate in the near future for military assistance-Our stance?, one task I vaguely remember being related to the aukaf department yet the gentle men didn’t clearly explain the problem so I skipped out on the theme. One lady was assigned a task where some acid had spilled out and the gas being produced caused problem in the community living by who became restless and started running out of their homes, another one was some task related to ensure the security of a VIP…..

Nearly after 45-50 minutes :waiting there was an interview with the psychologists. There was a panel of 3 psychologists, 2 ladies and 1 gentleman.

I seeked there permission to enter the room, i said A.O.A and I asked them if I could sit, they said ofcourse yes:D.

They asked my name…:D
Next they asked me what made me leave my long awaited dream of becoming a doctor and I opted instead for an applied degree…
Next they asked me if I saw myself as a better doc or as a better civil servant…
Asked about my particular preference group and said “whats’ with the girls and this particular group this time:D”.
They asked about my father and his entire career.
They further asked if I read newspapers:oo.
What am I doing nowadays?
Would I have no problems in my family life if given this particular group?
Moreover they asked me three questions related to biology which were a hard nut to crack:wacko:, yet I did manage answers to two of those.
They asked me what difference do I feel when I compare the education I received in both my universities.
How do I read books with so much going on in my life…
They did not ask about books or personalities.
Would I be reappearing for CSS2010?
Other questions I don’t quiet remember…but there were some more questions.
The interview was of 22 minutes and it was entirely in URDU….

I have tried recollecting what ever happened today and yesterday yet if I have made a mistake in writing one or two words wrong please excuse me….
I hope this would help some of the candidates yet to face the panel….Just pray for me also though I know it means a lot since we are all competing , but just please be kind enough…..

God bless you, regards and good luck……
