Dear Mani,
it is NOT a requirement to summarize your favourite books in the written portion of the test.however during the interview (psychological or the final one) something about them can come up.like "what do you like about the book".."do you agree with the author's opinion about xyz issue? or what is so special about his/her writing style that inspired you?" etc

as for the books, well, there is always animal farm by george orwell generally regarded as one of the best books of all time.(do read its wikipedia entry) ..political satire isnt really my thing, but if time is a constraint for you, there is no better option (it has around 100 pages i guess)...
here, read the first chapter of this free ebook..
in fact, browse such sites for whatever genre you prefer...read 5-10 pages..and then proceed only if it tickles your fancy

Yes you can.infact many literature students have opted books that they had studied in their graduation or masters.
