Default Headline n a newspaper

AOA

Respectable seniors, I'm having a difficulty to find an appropriate answer to the question which was,“define Headline in a newspaper, its purpose, qualities & kinds.” I researched a lot through Internet & some recommended books but still unable to find a satisfying answer. Your help will mean a lot to me.
