Default Communication Models & their Importance

There are several communication models given in the books.... Do we need to do them or could we skip them ??? Is there any possibility of Questions related to Communication Models coming in exams, Has it ever happened in the past??? What is your strategy regarding this topic folks ??? I am damn confused about these models as they are confusing and they are not doable, one must rote them only
