My optional will be sociology, Journalism, Urdu, Public Ad, Computer Sci
but in http://www.css.com.pk/syllabus/sociology.htm it is mentioned that we can not opt sociology with the combination of journalism. I want your guidance in this regard.

Well Rania I opted Sociology with Journalism in CSS 2013 attempt. The website you are quoting is not an authentic one, you can check the stuff which is present there is outdated.

You can opt any 2 Subjects from any Group of 100 marks each

Keeping in view the sociology paper of 2014, What would you suggest now for its preparation? We could not find the terms used in it among the traditional material used to prepare for sociology paper. In my first attempt back to 2011, i scored 65 in it. Having a detailed look on the recent paper, i am bit confused about its selection.
A request to Mr.Tauqeer Mehmood for suggestions.

Keeping in view the sociology paper 2008 and its fetal result, i being a qualifier as well as an M.A sociology, want to suggest some tips for those who are preparing for next css in sociology.

1. concentrate on theoratical portion of outline, which is oftenly skipped for being dry one, coz most of the questions were asked with reference to certain theoratical references which were given in invertred qommas. only few candidateds could notice that the inverted refference was a theoratical one. so go for all social thinkers frome comte to karl m.

2. objective portion was also of theoratical nature which tested our practical wisdom in terms of social processes and sociological phenomena.

3. Demographic touch was doiminating the whole paper, even setter did not care to avoid out of outline questions like population policy etc so a basic knowledge test was taken from all branches of sociology. to handle such kind of paper next time i suggest u people to avoid conventional guids rather consult one of the following books and i hope these wont let u loose

A) sociology by horton and hunt (very popular but not studied among css students)

B) a down to earth approach towards sociology (present in punjab university sociology deppt liberary)

wish u best of luck
tauqeer
Students should not follow any note series for appearing in this paper.
Just go through thoroughly atleast from 2 books.
Solve past papers.
Give outlines of the questions.
Write point wise.
All the best.
I just prepared for 2 months and managed to get 65 marks in my first attempt.

Never follow others notes.
Try to go through literary stuff by your self and solve questions from past papers, in this way you ll be able to write answers by your self.
If you ll not develop the skill of attempting questions purely in extempore manner, then it ll be difficult for you to clear CSS.
I have never relied on any notes in my life and so the case was I cleared CSS in my first attempt in CE 2012.
Notes bring uniformity in the answers of candidates.
Mostly almost all candidates usually write more or less same points. So how some of them get good marks......... Simply due to their own way of attempting answers.
You need to be different from others.

All the best.
