I can understand your displeasure but I cannot give another date as the last deadlines were not met by me .. I'm tied up with different projects, however, doing as much as I can out of my hectic routine to complete the book task .. I'll notify all when its ready InshaAllah ..

The best sources would be the book by Mazhar ul Haq and the documentary by Bettany Hughes ..

Regards ..

There were loads of them ..

1- Mazhar ul haq
2- Spirit of Islam by Syed Ameer Ali
3- P.K Hitti
4- Islam from Prophet Muhammad to the capture of Constantinople
5- History of medieval Islam by Saunders (Staunch and baseless critic of Islam, I do not recommend to study him .. It was hard for me to recover from what I read of him)
6- History of Muslim Philosophy by MM Sharif
7- Spanish Islam by Dozy
8- Preaching of Islam by Thomas Arnold
9- Hundred Great Muslims
10- And watched all documentaries that I've mentioned in posts

PS: No one here needs to study all these books for IHC preparation .. Only the handful books I have mentioned in other posts of this thread will be sufficient for extra-ordinary marks in this subject .. My background in medicine and law helped me to jump to and study only the relevant portions from these books without wasting much time on irrelevant details .. So, I merely tasted some books, swallowed some and then chewed and digested thoroughly the remaining books ..

Regards ..

Bro, how did you get hold of this book "Islam from Prophet Muhammad to the capture of Constantinople" , If you have a soft copy of this book please share and if you bought it from a bookshop, please share the name and address of that shop . I have searched the internet, ilmi book depot Lahore and kathiawar book depot Karachi for it , but no luck.
All these books you have mentioned don't cover "major world civilizations at the advent of Islam", I have downloaded few books on these civilizations but they are too lengthy. Please recommend an authentic book/source which covers this part. Thanks.

I searched online for some books which I couldn't find in Pakistan and asked a friend in the U.K to buy and courier me those .. I was awed to note that very old Islamic History texts were preserved in libraries abroad and were available to buy from websites abroad rather than in Pakistan and many other Muslim countries .. Books by Bernard Lewis, Dozy and some more for other subjects were sent by my friend from U.K ..

Lately some noble member has shared a PDF version of Dozy's book here on forum .. Wo download ker lain aur unhain duaa dain as it is one of the best books on Spanish Islam and Part 2 of IHC ..

It is true that almost all of the mentioned books do not cover the civilizations topic .. For that you can take help from Uncle Google and search for material on each of those civilizations separately .. Also, you can easily find in any good bookshop part 1 of the book 'Zia un Nabi S.A.W' by Peer Karam Shah .. This book was recommended by another noble member here and covers at least the Roman/Byzanntine empire, Sassanian/Sassanid empire and the Arab Civilization at the advent of Islam ..

Furthermore, do not be afraid of lengthy texts .. Learn the art of skimming and scanning and find and study only relevant portions for your desired topic from any book .. At the end make an outline on a single paper or two, or aap daryaa ko koozay mein band ker dain ge .. This art will give you different perspectives of writers and you'll also be able to quote different views from them in papers ..

Best of luck ..

Regards ..
