Default Psychological Disorders

Salam to all,

Can anyone classify disorders for me and many other new students:

Psycho-neurotic Disorders: _________, ___________, ____________ etc
Psychosomatic Disorders: __________, ___________, ____________ etc
Character Disorders: _______________,____________,___________ etc

and are anxiety disorders included in any one of the above or are they separate?? Moreover, do we have to just explain disorders only or their etiology, risk factors and treatments too??

Thanking in advance.

Default Psycho-neurotic Disorders

Psychoneurotic disorders are those which are of mild intensity in the sense that the contact with the reality remains intact in patients with these disorders. Opposite of them are psychotic disorders and the main difference between the two is that the contact with reality could not be found in psychotic patients + their normal social functioning will be deteriorated as well.
As far as psychoneurotic disorders are concerned, they include:
 Anxiety disorders
o Panic disorder
o Phobias
o Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
o Post -Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
o Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
 Some Somatoform Disorders
o Conversion Disorder (hysteria)
o Hypochondriasis
 Depression without psychotic symptoms can also be taken in this category.

As far as personality disorders are concerned, they were previously regarded as character disorders by many mental health professionals. But with the passage of time, some points can be found against this notion. According to them, there is a difference between personality and character so how come personality disorders can be taken as character disorders. But the number of evidences in support of this idea (personality and character disorders are same) outweigh the evidences against it.

In psychosis, main disorders include Schizophrenia and mania and other disorders having a presentation of psychotic features (hallucinations, delusions, disorganized speech and catatonic behaviors). But while writing about schizophrenia, better to write shortly about its subtypes too.

Mood, eating and substance related disorders come under the main heading of Clinical Disorders according to multiaxial system given in DSM-IV-TR.

……...I am giving u answers according to my knowledge, u can check it by urself as well if u want……….
